I gave the sum of 1,740,000 to a guy who goes to cotonuo to bring in vehicles for a Toyota Highlander some days back he called me 2 days after that he could not get a Highlander for a price close to the amount.He told me he found a very clean 2005 camry and I told him to bring it if he was sure the car is very clean.

He brought the car yesterday and he is asking for an additional 70,000.The car's mileage is 127946 and the VIN 4T1BE32K35U514639. He also claim that the battery that came with the car is bad hence I should buy a new one.I have not taken delivery of the car because I have a feeling the guy is trying to cheat me as I will still have to get custom paper for the car.

Kindly give an informed opinion on the value of the car (pictures attached) to enable me to know my next line of action.

I gave him that amount with the hope of adding some more for duty payment if he was able to get a TOYOTA Highlander.

But what can I do about the duty payment now as I do not want to be disturbed by custom and how much will that cost? If I add the duty payment to the 1810000 will the car still be a good buy at that amount?

With the information you provided so far, I agree with the seller on 2 counts:

1. You cannot get a 2005 Highlander for 1.8M even in Cotonou (but I may be wrong).
2. 1.8M is about right for a 2005 Camry.

What I don't know is if the seller knew all along that he can't get a 2005 Highlander for 1.8M and just wanted to get you hooked. All the same, the Camry appears to have a clean record. Here's the VIN report:

my brother to tell you the fact you have been cheated, this car is worth about 1.85 to 1.9 million lagos cleared, and you know that you definately cannot compared lagos cleared vehicles to those from cotonou.be wary about customs papers because even short changed ones are getting into trouble.just my two cents.

how much is the custom papers estimated to cost?, knowing the cost of the custom paper will help us decide if you hv been cheated or not.

also, never ever fall for the car dealers usuall tactic, OGA WE NO SEE THE CAR WEY YOU WANT, BUT THESE IS THIS OTHER CLEAN CAR WE SAW, AND THINK YOU MIGHT LIKE!!!.

yes i think you may have been cheated ,he's probably askin for a balance of 70000 such that u wont have to think you are being cheated.u'll need to spend another 150k minimum for d original custom duty.

The ride is okay at the price as you should consider that the engine is fairly okay although I fell that you should not give hime the N70,000. Bizbooks can you or someone else please check this VIN JNRAR07Y4YW078523 for me.

femmy, d issue is that its a business deal, if he agreed to pay that price, then the seller hit the jackpot, that still doesn't rule out the fact that Lagos Cleared with relatively low millage & enviable carfax report can be gotten for way less than N2M. N1.6 - N1.7M will drive this home here in Lasgidi. The ride sef isn't full option so whats the koko
