okeysoninv:PAYE- They pay to LASG only for their workers living in Lagos. The same way they pay to state governments where the other employees live. Home address of employees determines where companies will send their PAYE to. This is why states with instability are loosing out. Stamp duty- FIRS (Federal government) WHT- FIRS (Federal government) This is how it works |

okeysoninv:What have you said ? Nothing UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD. Educate yourself https://finance.admin.ox.ac.uk/wht Withholding taxes (WHT) are when tax is withheld from (or deducted from the income due to) the recipient by the payer, and directly paid to the government. In most tax jurisdictions, withholding tax applies to employment income (think of PAYE) but some tax systems withhold tax on other forms of income. The purpose is to prevent tax avoidance if employees are paid gross Not all employers withhold tax. Withholding tax by an employer costs money and cannot be managed by many small businesses/employers In other words they could pay you gross and it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to sort out your affairs with the government. You Withholding tax therefore is not a type of tax but a method of collection usually used for PAYE but can be used for VAT or other liabilities At The end of the year the taxpayer is required to file a return. Then his account is reconciled with the FIRS and he could be required to make additional payment, get a refund if he has overpaid or do nothing. 2 Likes |

Jogs1900:Actually withholding tax is not a type of tax. The method of withholding can be used for PAYE or VAT. If it is PAYE the FIRS collects it ON BEHALF on the states. If it is VAT it goes to the federation account but that case is in court. Withholding means the employer is acting as a tax collector/remitter deducting tax on behalf of government And pays the employee NET of PAYE. The PAYE tax is deducted(withheld) by the employer on behalf of government. That is all withholding means it is not a specific tax 1 Like |

Operative word there is CAPACITY!! How can they produce that capacity when there is constant vandalization, theft, bunkering etc. Most oil companies with onshore operations are not producing up to 50% of their CAPACITY. Besides, there is what you call natural decline in an oil field over time. Which is why they constantly need to drill new wells to replace natural decline, but most oil companies are not investing because of the issues i mentioned above, as well as delayed PIA. |

muhammaduyusufu: This is the most sensible thing the SW could have done. I would say that each state should have a target to build a 250MW power plant in the first four years of the new administration, which could be gas, hydro, solar or wind depending on the advantages each state has. That should make 1500MW by 2027, and then a target to add another 250MW each by 2030. Worst case, Osun and Ekiti should combine to build one, but the other SW states should be able to build one each. Rail is good, but is less of an issue for me. Good quality road network in the SW should be a priority, preferably tolled and maintained by the private sector. 4 Likes |
