Its perfectly OK. On the highway you can cover almost 100 miles km an hour with the engine running at low rpm and the car working at highest gear ratio. But in city driving very frequently distance is covered with more engine rpm and a lot of start and stops

The first right question to ask is how long did he drive in the city driving. How many miles did he cover in the city driving. Then you can compare the mpg and the mph

Some city driving can take 1 hour or 30 mins for 1 km. We are in Nigeria our in city driving is quite slow and filled with lots of start stops. Ok what if he stays in ikorodu or a place with unbarred roads. So many factors are present. Even fuel quality.

It's NOT perfectly okay sir. He isn't driving a Toyota Land cruiser V8 or a G63AMG.

That MPG are for such trucks. Even a land cruiser does slightly better than that.

What we need to know is his average MPH in town. I believe honda vehicles have this information in their trip meter.

Without it, there's no way of knowing if 10mpg is okay or not.

My average mph in town is between 40-45mph.

I don't stay in Lagos. The city mpg was gotten in osogbo. I recently changed my plugs and air filter, and my thermostat is present. I also did my alignment recently, so that is also out. I'll check the fuel pump filter and injectors.

A vtc code came on recently, but that's after I got 30.8mpg on highway driving, so I am not sure if that is the cause of the bad city mpg.

I did 29.2 miles in the city, and that took over 3-4 hours with a lot of stops in between.

That's 7.5mph average speed. Thats 12km/h 10mpg means 3 gallons for 4hours. About 12 litres for 3-4hours drive. So it's quite OK to me

Not realistic. You mean you do an average of 60-72km/hr within town?

If this is true then your gas mileage is beyond ridiculous. Scan and cross reference the codes you get with driveaccord.net on Google.

This was why I was saying you can't say for sure that anyone has fuel consumption issues if you don't know their average speed.

10mpg at 7.5mph is not bad.

in Nigeria we can say from experience. Some people spend 30 minutes driving from their house to the express on mud roads . The onus is once your highway driving mpg calculation is okay then why should the city driving mpg calculation be wrong? This recent fuel prices is causing people a lot of stress.

Nah my experience you just describe. From my house to main road is just over 4km, but it will take you at least 25 minutes on a day you're fast. And with that speed, your silencer will surely see shege banza.
