1) 5 [ 7 = 3

3 × 5 = 15
3 × 7 = 21
Then,
21 - 15 = 6
6 ÷ 2 = 3//

2) 3 [ 8 = 4

3 × 4 =12
4 × 8 = 24
Then,
24 - 12 = 8
8 ÷ 2 = 4//

And so on...

Now, all you have to do is to multiply the value of the solution by each term on the LHS. Subtract the resulting small solution from the large and divide by two.

This is Quantitative Reasoning, and it's simply based on Logical Reasoning (in combination with Mathematical Skills).

If the enclosed number is an Odd number; then simply perform a subtraction, and thereafter, add (+) 1 to the result. 7 (Odd number ) - 5 = 2
2 + 1 = 3

7/5 = 1 remainder 2
Then Do
1+2=3

The second one

8/3 = 2 Remainder 2
Then do
2+2=4
