Do writers actually make it big in Nigeria? is writing something one can depend on as a source of livelihood in this country?

Yes and No.
Writing pays very well especially if you are consistent to catch a break on Upwork, Fiverr, or land a high paying client on LinkedIn. But as a means of livelihood, it's hard to say because writers experience what we call Feast and Famine.
There are are some months where you'll be overwhelmed with jobs that you'll be sleeping for only 4 hours a day. And then there are some months you may only have 2 or 3 jobs. The first is feast and the second is famine. Even the most paid writers experience this and that's they resort to teaching people how to write and make money including ebook creations and sales.
It would have been great if one is guaranteed of job from Jan - Dec but it's not always the case.

Even If one has multiple clients there are some days that all of them will just decide to ghost up.
