Justice For Mohbad: Uncovering The Layers Beneath The Tragedy by Captainp2(m): 11:44am On Sep 21, 2023
In the wake of the Kayefi news this afternoon on 32fm949Ibadan, I found myself making an unplanned visit to the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). En route with my colleagues, we unexpectedly encountered a group of impassioned youth demanding #Justice4Mohbad. The circumstances surrounding Mohbad's tragic death have raised important questions and sparked controversy, especially with the presence of video footages on social media.

Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba with stage name MohBad, a young artist with immense potential, met an untimely demise, and many are eager to see justice served. While some have been quick to point fingers, including allegations aimed at Naira Marley and his label, I've always believed in not jumping to conclusions prematurely. The complexity of this case suggests that a deeper truth awaits discovery.

As investigations unfold, it is likely that hidden layers will come to light. Speculations range from connections to cultist kingpins, drug cartels, thuggery, and even assassination. While it's crucial for security forces to do their work diligently, it's equally important for us as a society to avoid hasty judgments.

What has struck me profoundly during this period, from this afternoon till tonight, is the multitude of societal issues that often go unnoticed. Our youth, who have taken to the streets to demand justice for MohBad, are a reflection of deeper challenges.

Unemployment among our youth is a ticking time bomb, and it's imperative that the government and political office holders urgently address this issue. The scenes of drug abuse, reckless driving, and prostitution among protesters point to a larger problem. These are not isolated incidents but symptoms of a broader malaise that needs to be tackled head-on.

Justice for MohBad is a crucial step, but it should serve as a wake-up call. We cannot afford to ignore the plight of our youth, for they are the future of our nation. Addressing unemployment, providing education and skills training, and creating opportunities for meaningful employment must be our collective priority.
In the midst of seeking justice for one young life lost, let us also strive to secure the futures of countless others who are struggling. Only then can we ensure a brighter, more prosperous, and safer Nigeria for all.
