How Being Financially Literate Can Alleviate Your Economic Stress This Period by Oluwafemadepeju: 4:30pm On Sep 21, 2023
We are presently living in challenging times; on the news a couple of days ago, while listening to a morning news show, one of the anchors said that it is truly a difficult time to be a youth or young adult in Nigeria.

However challenging as it might seem, every youth has a lifeline - financial literacy. Now, you might wonder how this relates to the economic challenge we face as youths in this trying time; let me explain.

Financial literacy means having the knowledge and skills needed to make financial decisions, which will promote your financial stability and well-being. One of the skills acquired when you are financially literate is budgeting. NO! You don’t have to be rich to budget your money. Budgeting is simply the process of prioritizing your needs and obligations and assigning portions of your income toward those costs.

Being financially literate will help you make smart choices, as you will make informed decisions about money and, by extension, reduce financial stress. Also, with the right knowledge, you can prepare for economic uncertainties and emergencies; this guarantees a secure financial future for you.

These are just a few of the lessons I learned during the FinGreen financial literacy program held here in Lagos.
