Meet Oluwatoyin Olajide: A Force to be Reckoned With at Air Peace

In the dynamic world of aviation, Oluwatoyin Olajide stands out as a powerhouse. As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Air Peace, she holds the second-most powerful position in the company after Chairman Allen Onyema. Olajide, a First Class Honours graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos, is currently the only female COO of a Nigerian airline.

Olajide's journey with Air Peace began in 2014 when she joined as the head of safety. Her exceptional leadership skills and dedication to excellence soon caught the attention of her superiors, resulting in a well-deserved promotion to CEO/COO later that same year. Since then, she has been instrumental in the airline's double-digit growth, propelling Air Peace to become the largest airline in West Africa.

Despite the language barrier between Olajide and Onyema, their mutual respect and shared vision transcend linguistic differences. Onyema, known for his non-tribalistic approach to business, entrusted Olajide with the responsibility of running Air Peace based solely on her competence and qualifications. This progressive mindset is further exemplified by Onyema's inter-tribal marriage to an Igala woman from Kogi State during a time when such unions were not widely accepted.

A noteworthy testament to Olajide's commitment to Nigerian culture is her introduction of the traditional Isiagu attire for Air Peace staff. This decision was not based on the airline's Igbo heritage but rather as a representation of Nigerian culture and an identity that transcends regional boundaries. As Air Peace continues to expand its global reach, Isiagu serves as a symbol of Nigerian heritage and a means of showcasing the richness and diversity of the nation.

While discussions surrounding Isiagu continue to garner attention, it is important to focus on the remarkable achievements of Olajide and Air Peace. Rather than dwell on externalities, understanding the factors that led to other airlines' failures, such as Arik and Medview, is key. Olajide's leadership skills and strategic mindset have been paramount in ensuring Air Peace's success, making her a true corporate Amazon. Her rise to prominence sends a powerful message to aspiring young women, showing that it is possible to excel in a male-dominated industry while maintaining personal authenticity and prioritizing motherhood.

Oluwatoyin Olajide's contributions to Air Peace go beyond mere business achievements. Through her work, she is actively preserving and promoting Nigerian culture, making it an integral part of the airline's identity. As Air Peace continues to soar to new heights, Olajide's unwavering dedication and brilliance shine as a beacon of inspiration for future generations.

That is how it should be, life goes beyond tribalism, religious bigot, etc the rich and the elite from all tribes in Nigeria sit, dine, eat and do things together while the poor and average Nigerians are quarrelling and killing themselves over tribalism and religious bigotry
