Kidnappers have killed the manager of a bank in Edo State, Mr. John Otobo, after they allegedly collected N8m ransom.

Details of the incident are still sketchy at the time of filing this report but it was gathered that his body was found in the bush after ransom payment.

According to one, the deceased was kidnapped a few days ago between Ugbegun and Uromi, while on his way home from work.

A member of the community, Odion Humphrey, confirmed the sad news in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

“The entire Udo community say goodbye to you, Mr. John Otobo, the Branch Manager Igueben. You will forever remain in our heart. As for your killer, may they never know peace all the days of their lives. May Almighty God grant u eternal rest, and may ur soul and the souls of every other faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, Amen," he wrote.

Terribly sad!!!

I guess this is one of the numerous reasons people leave this country to start afresh. They commit muder abroad too but there's a 50-70% chance that the killers will be caught and be made to pay for their crime.

The sad thing is that the killers may even be here on Nairaland because everyone have access to Internet these days.

I think its also possible they killed him cos he recognised one of them. I've been kidnapped before, last yr to be precise, at not more than 5km from where i reside. I did my best not to look at their face and notice anyone i know amongst them. While in abduction pls face down, don't look at their face or make any heroic moves unless there's a clear chance. Life is one and this is the situation we have found ourselves in Nigeria, if we can't leave the country at the moment we have to learn the art of surviving in it for ourselves and those that love us. God help us.

It must be a hate motivated crime. Some people are just animals. They kill someone and then go home to enjoy the loot with their families. Tomorrow, they will start asking for forgiveness?

The wickedness perpetrated in this generation is far worse more than imagined. Life that you did not create some people just decide to take as if that is what they were born to do.
They kidnap in order to collect money that is not their own, money that they did not work for as if that money will not finish in a moment.

Let the people start taking laws into their hands, defy all traditional rulers who invite herdsmen to bring in their cattles. Kill all cattles, kill all killer herdsmen found kidnapping.
