It seems to me that those 3 kids where their mothers allies and the last born was not or maybe he was neutral and hence the reason why he was spared... Just a random angle .

Because from the photo it looks like the father doesn't even want to be in that picture ... He is almost out of frame . And the last born is sitting it the most neutral position from the grouping in the family and furthermore I deduce from the boys body posture he is the one with the most free mind out of the bunch.

Maybe the man did DNA test and discovered that only one out of his 4 children is actually his
