The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Elom, has commissioned a block of 4 shops constructed by the Faculty of Education, meant to provide for the personal needs of staff and students, thereby alleviating the stress they face searching for essential commodities in other parts of the university campus.

The construction of the shops commenced after the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom gave his approval in May 2023, during a courtesy call by the immediate past Ag Dean of the faculty, Dr. Francisca Ogba when she intimated Vice-Chancellor, on the need for the project .

While delivering her welcome address, the Ag. Dean, Faculty of Education, Dr. Ntasiobi Igu, expressed her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for matching his words with action, stressing that proceeds from the shops, will help to meet some of the needs of the faculty, and also serve as a source of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the University.
She equally stated that the money used in putting up the building came from the proceeds of their last conference, remnant from their last teaching practice and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) induction.

The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Romanus Ejiaga, while commissioning the project, commended the Faculty for their thoughtfulness in initiating and making the project a reality, stating that the shops will serve as a convenience place for both staff and students. He enjoined other Faculties to emulate the gesture and try to assist in the development of their faculty in any little way they can.

Contributing, the immediate past Ag. Dean, Faculty of Education, Dr. Francisca Ogba, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for giving the approval to initiate the project, while also appreciating the current Ag Dean, Dr. Igu, for completing the project, adding that the project was aa result of team effort.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the Faculty committee that oversaw the project, Dr. David Udu, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elom for providing the enabling environment, adding that without him, the project would not have become a reality.
He further commended the Dr. Igu and other committee members for their efforts towards the successful completion of the project, and solicited for management action in making light available in the building to enhance the ease of doing business. .
