Addressing State House Correspondents shortly after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, the Bishop said one year is not enough to pass judgement on President Tinubu’s government.

Kukah said while the administration is providing solutions to the myriad of the challenges, Nigerians need to get a sense of how soon they expect to breathe a sigh of relief.

He, however, said that the government needs to communicate to Nigerians when it will fix the current socio economic challenges in the country.

According to him Nigerians are in various levels of pains.

“I’m sure that many people will tell you that one year is not enough to make a judgement. However, from where we all stand, we know that we are all in a very difficult situation.

“Nigerians are in various levels of pain and they are pains that are unintended. But, they are as a result of certain policy decisions that hopefully, with time, can be amended in order to serve the welfare of ordinary people,” Bishop Kukah explained.

He said it is the responsibility of the government to ensure better living conditions and security of the citizens.

“I believe that the essence of government is to guarantee the welfare and security of ordinary citizens. I believe that the times that we are in are very very difficult times, and nobody should be under any illusion.

“But, there are also times for renewal. We just need to commit ourselves to the fact that building a good society takes a lot of time. It’s not something that is done in one lifetime. And for me, the most important thing is for us to continue on the building blocks of the things that we think are being done well.

“My argument has always been that the government needs to very quickly improve the quality of communication so that Nigerians can at least get a sense of how long is it going to be before food is ready.”

On the current crisis in Rivers State, Bishop Kukah said he believes Fubara and Wike will fix their problems.

According to him, it is the ordinary people that are worrying over what is happening in Rivers State, but the politicians have a way of settling themselves.

“This is politics. I’m very hopeful, we ordinary people cry more than the bereaved. The important thing is that politicians will fix their problems.

“Rivers State is a place that is very dear to me because I have been associating with them for a very long time. But, look, when politicians fight, don’t get carried away because they have their capacity to fix their quarrels.

“I hope and pray that Rivers State will sooner than later reposition itself because it is not an insignificant part of Nigeria,” he said.

Kikiki... 😆😅🤣😂

CATHOLIC Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, yesterday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to face the challenges of governance and stop agonizing over misdeeds of past administrations.

Nigerians, according to the clergyman, “didn’t vote a government to complain about yesterday. If we wanted yesterday, the new government would not be there.”

Kukah spoke with newsmen at a dinner organized by Ondo State Government after the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigerian, CBCN, in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

What a fallacy! In Nigeria, the first year is always the determinant year of every administration, from the second year don't expect anything tangible but failed promises. it is during the time to the third year shadow campaign begins, Full and open campaign is widely seen during the last year. Don't expect anything but hardship from brother Tinubu. He has delivered the content of the paper given to him at the Chattam house and signed at the sultan of Sokoto's palace. We are on our own. OYO until Nigerians wake up to take back their destiny by force from these greedy old bastards.

Old man get lost. If one year isn't enough to criticize this government, it means you're justifying Tinubu's bad policies that have rendered the economy useless.

You can't stop us from casting aspersions on this useless government.

Call Tinubu out for his bad ways and stop being two-sided.

These "motivational speakers" don't know when to say the truth. ...and that's how things will go from bad to worse!

If there's 100 days in office and people are analyzing based on the performance of the first 100 days in office, why can't you assess based on the first year.

Just read about the President of Argentina!

Nigeria has now made it officially 8 years in office to assess a sitting ruler, why won't they take us for granted?

We should stay on their neck, press their neck, assess, analyze and criticize every policy (e.g. cybersecurity levy) so they know people are woke and monitoring their moves.

Bishop Kukah, na wa o.

So, a year out of 4 years is nothing?!
