I found this newspaper headline published in 1985 (during Buhari's administration) lamenting about the serious state of unemployment as well as the bleak fates of the new graduates...

It's funny how the same fellow talks about creating and giving jobs if elected now like he'll manufacture them from thin air.

Really puzzling. undecided

It's really sad, I must say.
This just shows you that ignorance is a killer disease. See the superman they're touting, coming out to say his plan for Nigeria is 5,000 naira monthly almajiri stipends for the youth. When progressive countries are defining their own idea of job creation as empowering SMEs which would, by extension, create those jobs for the country, some dunces are trying to take us to the North Korean era.

If we have tried a PHD holder and he failed us, then let's try a professor and not an illiterate.
That's the true meaning of change.

I insist, buhari represents a backward change.

I'm a progrssive
I don't want to go back to Egypt
I want to go Forward!

Its amazing the way this crude element has been repackaged to be the hope and choice of this generation.

Posterity will never forgive us for this self deceit.

Buhari BELONGS in the past. So, if you're supporting him, then it's you who is living in the past.

Always trying to create a diversion from the truth, when there was no graduate in my village buhari couldn't create employment for the few in Nigeria, now we have hundreds of graduates in My village and millions of graduates in Nigeria, the same buhari wants me to believe he will perform a miracle this time.

I'd rather believe in Arsene wenger to win the champions league than buhari's miracle.

After watching the video where he called his running mate osunbade, I almost wept. Nigeria is just a crazy nation where everything goes.
As a Nigerian, I could barely comprehend his speech. How will Obama understand him?

This was Shagari' s doing. Please there is such a thing as bullwhip effect in economics. If you mess up education during Abacha regime for instance, the effect will be felt by employers and the unemployed themselves during Obasanjo regime. What you saw in that headline actually justifies Buhari's staunch defence of the Naira and import restrictions. By the eleventh month, things had stabilized. I remember sitting in front of a friend of my dad's 2b
who was proudly going to set up a ceramics manufacturing company at that same period and was thanking the government for high import tariffs that were going to save his new business.
I think Buhari, Shonekan and later Abacha (for all his faults) were governments that were very protective of local small scale manufacturing. Obj and Jona were more protective of the Dangote's of this world.

Interesting. But Boko Haram, almajiris, unemployment and poverty in the North are all Goodluck Jonathan's faults?

Don't be a shameless liar, please. You're not talking to your usual gullible preschoolers here.

Buhari was protective of small businesses, yet he had his ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES misadventure which had soldiers breaking into traders' shops and ordering them to sell items at pegged prices which were way below the cost price?
He ended up killing off thousands of small businesses; and 32 years later, you're in here lying to people?

I don't regard wholesalers and retailers of imported goods as engaging in respectable small business. I was referring to manufacturers of goods who established small manufacturing outfits to challenge imported goods.

Only the WORST LIAR would blame Jonathan for Boko Haram and Almajiris.
The almajiri system was caused by Ahmadu Bello, no less. Boko Haram was caused by system corruption worsened by PDP looting, PDP' s culture of using militias, arming them and not dis arming and rehabilitating them after elections.
Why people are blaming Jonathan is because of complicity in escalating the problem, cowardice in standing up to the sponsors, cowardice in standing up to the generals stealing defence funds, lack of care for the suffering in the region and incompetence as commander in chief after Chibok girls adoption. As president, a lot of problems you inherit are not caused by you but you have sworn to tackle them to the best of your ability.

Great analysis! Let's blame buhari's predecessor and his successor for his failures so that when he fails tomorrow we will also blame it on GEJ.

But bokoharam, poor power supply, unemployment must be blamed on GEJ.

Well, too bad there were no such manufacturers during Buhari's administration because his "austerity measures" ended up killing off the little industries we had. And those wholesalers and retailers wouldn't have been importing their commodities if there were indigenous manufacturers to meet demands, would they?

We can blame GEJ because of six years and $100bn spent and stolen on Boko Haram, power supply, unemployment. The non performance is excusable (he is just a fishery zoologist) but the stealing will never be forgiven.

I have told you guys to walk up to the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and look at the records. There is no need for emotive statements. There are the Uma Eleazus, Omololayoles, Kalus, PZs Kola Jamodus and so on.
Try to find out how these manufacturers body were having to buy import licenses from touts of the then PDP (a stupid party called NPN). A very important company like PZ or Star Paper Mill had to be buying import licenses from political touts. When Buhari came he cleared that rubbish in three months (who born monkey?)
Manufacturers who were adding even the smallest of value had it very easy and were expanding their plants before Jonathan's Fada (IBB) came on the scene and destroyed Nigeria completely.
