Lawmakers Again! Why Ekiti? by dreeldee: 4:06pm On Dec 31, 2008
I've been following the news from this state and when I think about what it has all been enmeshed in, I bow my head in shame for the state that used to be the pacesetter and now a failed state, an epitome of what the real Nigeria has become. Why Ekiti?

Would you perfer they threw chairs and staplers like the British Parliament?
Re: Lawmakers Again! Why Ekiti? by dreeldee: 4:13pm On Dec 31, 2008
I don't think it's any different besides the British Parliament isn't comparable with the corruption that has ridden that state of its value. Karma i know you're here to defend your state but truth be told, Ekiti has failed

Lol. . . . what a joke.
When was ekiti state a pacesetter?

KarmaMod:

The british parliament would throw chairs on behalf of their constituencies, while their naija counterparts (especially ekiti reps) throw chairs and blows for "ghana must go"
Shameless set of people.

Well I can't do much because I'm not in the position to effect much change but the little i can, I'm trying. Remember also that this whole thing is a result of the rulers smiley

Simple question; why would it have to be ekiti legislators all the time? Na them like 'ghana must go' pass?
However, i can only contribute by calling for all the ekiti lawmakers to be checked into a psychiatric hospital as all of them seem to be mentally derailed. Check out the pix if you think its a lie. cool

Plenty of organizations for that state alone, there's plenty one can do.

Quick question, how's your state any better? I'm only concerned about Ekiti because it's my state not because it's the worst cool

This is a thread about how troubled ekiti lawmakers are. No be so?

Ekiti actually has the most violent and corrupt legislators among all other state legislators in the country. The most troubled.
Am concerned cos those vagabonds from ekiti legislative house gradually graduate to the national assembly and we all know what they usually turn out to be; mega voilence and corruption. grin
Did i mention that some of my friends are from the troubled state and it affects them the way these touts run the state house of assembly. Their problem is my problem.

so how does this one incident make Ekiti a failed state? I'm curious.

South Korean legislators recently dealt themselves a number of dirty slaps and heavy blows.

Does that make South Korea a failed state?

I'm not saying what happened was a good thing, but what it shows is people should work on mediation and arbitration skills. Its a common problem that pops up every now and then across Nigeria and Africa.
not just that, if you've been following the news from that state then you'd know what i'm talking about
*Toyinrayo:

Hmmmmm,

Is it only Ekiti state that has bad news?

I'm just wondering why you decided to label it a failed state as if these thing happen 24/7 365 days a year.

Hotheadedness isnt only an Ekiti trait, last time I checked. There's another thread in this section about some people who got killed during an Abeokuta PDP rally.

the problem as I see it is we Africans tend to have poor mediation skills. Could be a result of the incessant beatings and whatnot that get unleashed on children from a very young age. We beat ourselves up at the slightest provocation withuot considering other avenues to resolve the problem.
shocked shocked hahaha hehehehe that's funny but has nothing to do with the issue on the ground tongue. It might not happen 24/7 but it happens too many time, and this is the exact condition Nigeria is in now. Mind you, i ain't saying EKiti is the worst of them all, just bothered about the state because it's no longer what it used to be.

What are you afraid of? Ekiti is the worst among the worst of them all. They are always in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Check the pix again and you will agree with me that the best way to salvage their legislative house is check all of them into a psychiatric facility. tongue
Damn it!
Re: Lawmakers Again! Why Ekiti? by Nobody: 7:18pm On Dec 31, 2008
Can someone please tell me the difference between the state of affairs in ekiti house in 99 and in 08? Or, are we suppose to wait for the amount of time rome was built before we can learn how to put our house together?
Enough of this excuse of nigeria is still young.

the state was created in '99, right?

So they ought to be a world superpower by now? 9 years is all it takes.

And of course you wont see any difference even if its sitting on your nose.

As if some other states that have managed to stay out trouble werent created alongside ekiti. Do have in mind that ekiti wasnt created out of the woods; they have been practicing under a state before the creation.
F.Y.I, no state was created '99.

Ekiti had several constituencies under the old ondo and am sure ekiti people were the ones that filled the sits in the old ondo house of assembly.
Couldnt they have learnt one or two things while still with ondo, just like their other "new" counterparts?

what kind of things are you referring to?

Ondo was created in 1978 I think. The state's early history was probably as turbulent as Ekiti is now. Even Oyo state still has trouble every now and then. This is Africa, for goodness sake.

All I'm saying is growth is a gradual thing, not a sudden one.

So how many years does these states need before they can begin to act like humans beings?
As i leave you to answer the above question, i would also want to know why ekiti assembly have always been the most troubled among all the states houses of assembly; be it 30 years or 13 years old?
Im still recommending psychiatric counseling for those violent dudes.
