In what looked like the President using the opportunity of the NEC meeting to tell Nigerians that the government was working and ready to deliver dividends of democracy to the people, he said, “let me take stock of our campaign promises to the people and state how far we have come in achieving the seven-point agenda.   cheesy

“First, our priority on power and energy. Let me tell you and Nigerians that all plans to attain the 6,000 megawatts of energy by the end of this year are in place and plans have been concluded and all required fund for achieving the objectives are also in place.

“Government’s plan to generate 10,000 megawatts by year 2011 has been concluded and implementation of the plan has begun and fund is in place and I can express confidence that by the grace of God, the target will be achieved before the end of this year and 2011. I’m reiterating this so that the nation will know what the PDP government is doing and we have left no Nigerian in any doubt as regards what we intend to deliver so that the nation can hold the government and the party accountable.

Also present at the meeting where former President and Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was absent, were Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker, House of Representatives, Tony Anenih, Ken Nnamani; Ibrahim Mantu; Barnabas Gemade, Ahmadu Ali, Adamu Aliero.

Others were governors of Delta, Niger, Adamawa, Ogun, Osun; Kwara, Benue, Oyo, Zamfara, among others.

Speaking earlier, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor who reiterated that the date for the Speacial National Convention is 20th April, however regretted the loss of Edo, Abia and Ondo to opposition parties at the election tribunals but asked party members to rise up and reclaim the states.
