The daughter of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua, Maryam Yar’Adua, was defeated in the House of Representatives election for Katsina Federal Constituency as the Congress for Political Change swept to victory in the state.

According to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday, the CPC candidate, Mr.Mohammed Tukur, trounced her by 45,573 votes to 26,674 votes.

Also, CPC candidate, Alhaji Sani Stores, defeated PDP candidate, Senator Ibrahim Ida, with 217, 154 votes to 188,302 in Katsina Senatorial District. Furthermore, in the Katsina South Senatorial District’s election, CPC candidate,Mr. Abu Ibrahim, got 324,652 votes to defeat PDP candidate, Tukur Jikamshi, who had 198,927, in the Katsina South Senatorial District’s election.

However, the PDP trounced the All Nigeria Peoples’ Party in Kano State by winning two Senate seats and eleven out of the 20 House of Representatives seats so far released.

PDP left ANPP with only one Senate and seven House of Representatives seats while the CPC won two seats in the House of Representatives.

Two incumbent senators, deputy minority leader, Kabiru Gaya (ANPP) and Bello Hayatu (PDP), won, while the third senatorial seat was won by Alhaji Garba Lado of the PDP.
