Structural engineers in the house, this topic is for you. Between two columns is a space of 6.5m and the designed beam is 50cm in depth. This is smack in the middle of the living room. It's a 2 storey duplex. The living room is on the ground floor. The beam doesn't look good hanging where it is. Can structural engineers here suggest ways to make the depth smaller?
