Before a regular Police convert to Mobile Police force. There are process he/she must go through. The major obstacle is Tear Gas endurance.

This process is determined by how a regular Police is able to withstand the heavy smoke from a Tear Gas. Any Police who is unable to endure the smoke, is automatically disqualified.

Mopol is the punching arms of NPF, they're there to takle any threats that's beyond the regular police. And they can invite the military if it's coming beyond their own capacity too. The purpose of their creation is to finds a way to limit the interference of the military. But today, bcuz of lack of maintenance and low pay as salaries, both police, mopol and military have loosen their value by collecting bribe on the road

IGP Sunday Adewusi introduced PMF and I think IGP Mike Okiro introduced SARS. SARS was a group of regular duty Policemen dedicated to fighting armed robbery and kidnapping. So, each Command had to create its own Anti Robbery Squad.

If you notice, SARS had no special uniforms or accoutrements at that time. They were normal Policemen who dealt with violent crimes.

That's why you see that in those days, whenever they arrest any Sars officer, he will wear the regular black police uniform. No other uniform or badge.

Mopol is actually anti-riot. Their major training is to fight riot. Those that used to battle Boko Haram used to be SARS. Boko Haram feared Sars because SARS used to butcher them with cutlass once they catch any Boko Haram SUSPECTS.
There is a reason why Zulum insisted on using SARS as protective details in his convoy.

Sars doesn't face BH again. Now, we have Police Special Forces and Counter Terrorism Unit doing that.
