KADUNA REFINERY TO COMMENCE PRODUCTION OF 60,000 BARREL PER DAY, BEFORE DECEMBER, 2024.

TURN AROUND MAINTENANCE OF NIGERIAN REFINERIES: A GIANT STEP TO REVITALISE THE OIL SECTOR AND BOOST THE ECONOMY

In conclusion of the first edition of oversight visits to Nigerian Refineries by the tenth Nigerian Senate to ascertain the status of ongoing maintenance works there, I led the Senate Ad-hoc Committee investigating the Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) Projects of Nigerian Refineries to Kaduna Refinery on Monday, April 29, 2024. During the tour which was preceded by visits to Warri and Port Harcourt Refineries, I commended the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) led by Mele Kyari and the Management of Kaduna Refinery led by Dr Mustafa Sugungun for their efforts to bring our refineries back to life.

Speaking further at the event which was also attended by officials of NNPCL led by the Executive Vice-President (Downstream), Mr Dapo Segun, I emphasized the importance of ensuring that the refineries are fully operational and running efficiently to meet the energy needs of our country, and called for continuous support for the revitalization of our oil sector.

Generally, I am impressed by the dedication of the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to revitalize our refineries. I am also impressed by the tireless efforts of NNPCL to ensure that these vital national facilities are back to full capacity. The tours gave the Nigerian Senate through the Ad-hoc Committee the opportunity to see first-hand the progress that has been made in reviving the refineries, and I am confident that with the continued support and commitment of the federal government and NNPCL, as well as the management and staff of the refineries, the refineries will soon be operational and contributing significantly to the energy needs of our country.

The 10th National Assembly under the leadership of Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio is highly committed to supporting the revitalization of our refineries and ensuring that they are able to operate at full capacity. I believe that with necessary cooperation and dedication, Nigeria will have efficient refinery sector that will boost the economic development of the country and promote energy security for citizens.

With the conclusion of this edition of oversight visits to our refineries, the Ad-hoc Committee will report back to the Senate and disclose its findings for further legislative action.

Government machineries know how gullible and weak Nigerians are. That's why they use lies and propaganda to rule.

It's only a fool that will believe them.

Divide this country now.

At this stage of our nation, are we not tired of all this talk of 'set to' 'about to' with pictures of a white man for even basic infrastructure projects that only fan a neo-colonialist mindset?

This is 2024. A working refinery is not rocket science. Well meaning Nigerians are not interested in weekly articles of 'set to' from now till December before further postponement.

FG should get to work and inform us know when the refinery is up and running. That's what they're paid for.
