Open Letter to PDP Stakeholders, Founders, other Party Members across Nigeria and in the Diaspora. By Abalaga Tamuno The struggle for political powers ahead of the 2027 general elections has thrown the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into multitude of scandals, including allegations of internal sabotage, some powerful members scheming to forcefully hijack the party for their personal or pecuniary interests. The latest in the series of such scandals are plot by the former Governor of Rivers State and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr Nyesom Wike, to remove some staffers of the Party at the National Secretariat, who are perceived not to represent his interest or that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. According to gossips at the Party’s National Secretariat, Mr Wike was said to have ordered the acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum to immediately remove some staffers and redeploy others to certain offices not under serious threat to him and his APC goons ahead of 2027. Available information from the party headquarters suggest that, Minister Wike’s main focus is to stop the PDP from playing its opposition role so as to ensure a smooth transition of APC led government under President Bola Tinubu in 2027. It is important to note that the worst thing that could happen to any country is for a major opposition party like the PDP to be destroyed from within by power mongers and scavengers. Therefore, founders, party leaders, critical stakeholders and other members must rise to the occasion and demand for change in the PDP. The party must not allow Governor Nyesom Wike to finally annihilate the party because of his selfish ambition. A situation where one man is allowed to dictate the state of affairs in the party is seriously baffling and totally unacceptable. The PDP cannot remain at the beck and call of the FCT Minister who is bent on destroying the fortunes of the party. God Bless the PDP! God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
