The surest way to survive a protest march is to not attend one in the first place. But if you must attend, the following pre-cautions may save you from serious bodily injury or even death.

1. Do not throw any objects including stones or bottles at the Police
2. Do not engage in any form of physical altercation with the Police
3. Do not smash cars or buildings (even government cars or buildings)
4. Do not start a fire
5. Do not loot private or government property
6. Do not block vehicular traffic
7. Do not forcibly enlist others to join your protest
8. Do not argue with the Police when they ask you to step back or disperse

If other people around you start doing any of the above, turn around and go home. It may be exciting to watch a violent demonstration from afar but no place except your house is safe under such circumstance.

Be smart. Stay alive.

P.S: There may be other pre-cautions. Please feel free to add to the list above.

wear bullet proof vest, head gear. Never let the police single you out. Never make yourself obvious. Dont appear to be leading the pack.

Letme help some guys here.

Anyone that is shot should not be allowed to bleed to death.

You make sure you take enough clothes or whatever you have to stop the victim from bleeding.

Keep holding the bleeding point untill the victim receives medical attention.

When doing this make sure the victim receives enough air to breath.

The victim might survive if proper 1st aid care is given.

@sili, what a sili statement to make. If you cant join the protest, support in any way you can, or better still, pray for them. You wouls ultimately benefit from their fight.

Are you better than tunde bakare, fola adeola and all the artists that leave their houses daily just to go and get the wold to hear that we are having a very clueless Government?

Isn't you the same guy that is contributing to Nigeria's jungle nature by circumventing the law by shipping over 15 yrs old unsafe cars to Nigeria and trying to justify it in other posts? even though the law says not over 15 yrs old. Contribute to the nation building by respecting the law, if the custom official will accept bribe,, must you give it?

Vindictive ones like Bakare would lead while mumus would follow. The sane ones among us would sit back at home and watch. After all its not by force for everybody to be wise

The funny thing is that the police is the threat here. It is truly a shame, and I've always wondered what sort of mentality allows the police to kill ciivilians without reason.
