Music/Radio / Yemi Alade VS Davido: Race To Hit 100million Youtube Views by 0225front: 6:18pm On Oct 29, 2018
YEMI ALADE VS DAVIDO: RACE TO HIT 100million YOUTUBE VIEWS

Let's celebrate our own Mama Africa Yemi Alade and OBO himself Davido as they both race closely to be the first indigenous Nigerian artiste to hit a hundred million views on YouTube.

In this age of trends, clicks, views, likes, etc. etc, where top global acts are conveniently surpassing a billion views and counting, it's still going to be a notable milestone in the Nigerian and African entertainment space. Yemi Alade's Johnny, undeniably one of the biggest singles to be released in Africa over the last five years (March 3, 2014 to be precise) and has not for a beat lost steam. Still trending even hotter than recent hits by top acts, it is just about 3.5m views from crossing the 100m milestone.

Closely followed, and as you would expect, trending hotter on the world's biggest video upload platform, is Davido's Fall. Fall is 3 years and 3 months fresher on YouTube than Johnny, released on June 2, 2017, and is generating views at a faster rate than the latter. Being one of the "30 billion" crooner's biggert singles ever, Fall just crossed 90m views about two weeks ago.

Last week was very stewy, thanks to Wizzy and Tiwa. Let's jump on YouTube this week, fans or famz or whichever and let's be a part of this close race, even make it a photo finish if possible. Shoutout to Yemi Alade. Shoutout to Davido. 100 million YouTube views, the race is on!

It's only a governor that is caring, sensitive and bold that would venture on a program like this. Thank you Gov Obaseki for acting like a true father and welcoming back our sons and daughters with open arms.

Actualization of the current EdoProject would shut PDP for good. We cant wait to see the commissioning of these projects at the stipulated time given by the govt. There is no need to go into war of words with any fraction. Let the realisation do the talking. By the way, i think the PDP are the losers here.

Let the light of Gov Obaseki and APC so shine so that these PDP detractors and saboteurs won't have a hiding place. Imagine a fantastically laudable project like the BIP still getting knocks from Nehikhare and his jobless fellows.

Better days are here again for the Edos. What a laudable PPP initiative. Another plus for Nigeria which currently prides herself as second on the list of cassava producing nations globally.

The same way APC is destroying Lagos state with 930.96% debt to net revenue, right? It is all about development and boosting infrastructural growth in the medium and long term which will facilitate rising employment rates, IGR and GDP figures. As far as the Edo govt is not borrowing to "dredge Ikpoba River" or some other ludicrous project and to line the pockets of their kin and cronies, they are very much on track.

PDP sha. They are totally blind to visible development, ignorant to sound economic management principles and deaf to the applause Obaseki enjoys from Edo people with every purposeful decision he makes towards the growth of Edo state. As far as the money sharing is not swelling their pockets and hitting their accounts, they can never be happy.

wizkid, davido etc do not do afrobeats.

afrobeats sounds is different from what our musicians are doing.

music historians and lovers can differentiate the sounds when they hear it

juju, highlife, afrobeats, fuji sounds are all different, what our present young musicians are doing,i cant categorise it.

People that are less aware easily jump with the white man's categorization of African music as Afrobeat; much like they conveniently refer to the whole continent of Africa as one country. Burna Boy's quite correct not to fall into this nonsensical trap like other mumu Nigerian artistes. He's also right to term it Afrofusion cos it's a mix of African music with several other recognizable world beats, mainly pop.

Politics / Re: Obaseki Inspects 3.5km Road Project In Akoko Edo, Assures Devt Will Get To All by 0225front: 12:51pm On Mar 13, 2018
Osabass:
Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki has assured that infrastructure development will get to all local government councils in the state, even as he promised the people of Akoko Edo Local Government Area of accelerated completion of the ongoing construction of a 3.5km-long road project in Ugboshi Afe community.

The road, it was learnt, was tarred by the late Premier of the then Western Nigeria, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, over 60 years ago, but has since been abandoned.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Taiwo Akerele, who represented the governor during the site tour, at the weekend, said that the project is being delivered in a fashion that belies the ‘wake and see’ approach to governance championed by Governor Obaseki

According to him, “I appeal to communities in the state to remain calm as Mr Governor is gradually fulfilling all his promises from one local council to another.

“It is regrettable that the people of Ugboshi Afe have had to wait for so long for this road to be constructed. But we assure them that not only will this road be constructed, but it will be delivered in good time.”

“The 3.5km-long abandoned road is being constructed by EDSG public works programme at an accelerated pace and will be completed before the end of May 2018,” he added.

The people of the community said they are delighted that the governor has extended the infrastructural imprints to them, noting that the state is better off with the dogged approach to delivering on the dividends of democracy.

A member of the community, who doesn’t want his name in print, said that the project took members of the community by surprised, thanking governor Obaseki for the good gesture.

He said, “We celebrate the arrival of the Obaseki ‘wake and see’ miracle train to our community, 60 years after Chief Obafemi Awolowo tarred this road.”

Governor Obaseki must be commended for letting the masses around the state feel the impact of a working government.
