Hello bro
I'm also looking for the same guidance you seek.im currently looking for where to study cybersecurity either at futa or any nigeria school.
How can I contact you let's pool our resources together?

Hey bro! I'd send you an email right away. Would love to get in touch with you.

Relatively, very few schools offer Cysec courses in Nigeria. You could check out https://a3techworld.com/universities-cybersecurity-courses-nigeria/

FUTA seemed to be the best choice for me for insignificant reasons and the postUTME application is currently ongoing. Would be glad to discuss more though

Hi, hoping you've gotten some guidance on this, but here are my thoughts just in case.

For a 17 years old, you have done so well for yourself. Trust me, I only knew very little about what Cyber security is in my 2nd and 3rd year in undergrad, and my undergraduate was in Comp Science.

I'll advice you keep at your current pace and keep up with the passion.
With your current experience, I recommend you go ahead with enrolling for the Cyber degree at FUT or any other school of choice. Yea maybe you wouldn't learn so much but you'll be way ahead of others considering the self-taught experience you've garnered. Better yet, take online classes too from internationally reputable/recognized schools (if you can afford it), these days you don't have to be physically present to acquire your desired skills or knowledge.

Finally, there are lots of good resources on this thread. Read through if you haven't done so already. Good thing is you already know what, where, and how to start. Keep up the giant steps.

All the best with your SEC+ exam.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'd especially research online courses I could get from reputable schools at considerable fees. Once again, thanks very much, highly appreciated

Good day!

I consider myself very lucky to find this thread and I'm hoping to get advice from many people here. I'm a 17yr old who has a massive interest in Cybersecurity and from what I've seen, the job market here has a pretty high barrier to entry compared to other tech roles like software development and it's rather discouraging for those just starting their careers like me. I'm hoping if anyone could point me in the right direction to begin a career in cybersecurity. I have programming experience and also rudimentary infosec knowledge I've gathered while playing lots of CTFs while in secondary school. I don't currently have any certs but I'll be taking the Sec+ as soon as I can afford it. I'm also contemplating acquiring a Cybersecurity degree at the Federal Uni of Tech, Akure, or the few schools that offer the course here in NG but my contacts there are mostly discouraging me due to the rather terrible education they're getting there.

Any pointers/suggestions on what to do would be very much appreciated, thanks!
