As details have emerged from the horrific shooting at a Colorado movie theater last Friday, the stories that have touched many have been those of sacrifice and selflessness. These were ordinary people taking decisive, brave actions to save those they love. Among those courageous people were three young men who died saving their girlfriends. The men — Jon Blunk, 25; Matt McQuinn, 27; and Alex Teves, 24 — each died protecting their girlfriends by shielding them from the gunman’s bullets. Blunk and McQuinn threw themselves on top of their partners, while Teves pushed his girlfriend to the ground, out of harm’s way.

same is not true of us (or of Africans in general).

the reason those men were able to do that was mainly because it was part of their culture.
