FOR arriving late to the Benue State Executive Council meeting yesterday, three members of the body were locked out of the parley on the orders of Governor Gabriel Suswam.

Those locked out included the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr. Benjamin Ashaver, his Youths and Sports counterpart, Mr. Aondowase Chia, as well as the Head of Service, Mr. Mike Iordye.

They were said to have arrived after the executive council meeting had started and this irked the governor, who ordered that the affected exco members be shut out.

Some security officials, who confided in The Guardian, said many commissioners and aides were in the habit of turning up late at functions, noting that the governor had not been happy with the ugly trend.

When the Information Commissioner, Conrad Wegba, was contacted on the matter, he said he was not aware of it.

Suswam had recently at the flagging off of this year’s sale of fertiliser warned that it would no longer be business as usual for the lackadaisical attitudes of his aides and commissioners, and was alleged to have said: “I will no longer tolerate nonsense from anyone again, after all am not seeking for any re-election.”
