I have recently read this article: http://www.sleekwarehouse.com/forum/#/20120806/can-snoring-cause-stroke-1816256/

"INCREASED STROKE RISK IF YOU SNORE...

Did you know that you face a 75% increased risk of stroke if you snore? Just another reason why snoring should no longer be considered a joke"

Could this be true? If so, what is the logic behind it?

Snoring does not cause stroke in any way. The only logical link I think is that snoring is commoner among people who are obese than non-obese individuals . Obesity is one of the modifiable/treatable risk factors for cerebrovascular disease and stroke . Other treatable risk factors are hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption etc.

I thought so at first myself until I started doing some research.. Snoring can actually cause stroke

Some leading dental surgeons have discovered that snoring can actually damage the arteries, which can later cause strokes.

While your snoring may be bothering your bed partner, most people consider it otherwise harmless. However, snoring often indicates a serious medical condition called sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea, which is marked by irregular breathing, often causes its sufferers to completely stop breathing for seconds at a time – up to hundreds of times per night! Just like in the case of sneezing when all functions of your body stop momentarily. Sleep apnea is now known to cause a wide range of health problems that include obesity, hypertension, chronic fatigue, depression, poor concentration, memory problems, and more. I have now put up the full story on my blog...http://www.sleekwarehouse.com/snoring-can-cause-stroke/
