I am opined that Promotional advertorials and all business -like marketing need must request “the courtesies of consent” (of Users) before being activated on user’s phones. Some of these annoying sms wakes you up from sleep and sometime distracts your ongoing concentration. You are constrained to accept all junks sent to fill the Text box of your phones because there are NO responsible officers of Government to censor the information circulated by the gain greedy Operator or perhaps a bribe has exchange hands to action the approval to circulate unwanted messages by means of adverts to numerous user
Imagine receiving sms to activates ringtones of a noisy musician whose music is annoying to Your sensibility, (though men of little minds perceive this as their stars), or sms of religion that annoys your sensibilities, for instance mass sending of Islamic greetings to unknown recipients imposing a Name whom you considers inferior to your chosen belief system or doing same to Muslim asking congratulating them on a Christianized anniversary or the routines of seasons greeting where you apparently have no business.
I found that Nigerian NETWORK operators are notorious for the abuse of the rights of their subscribers and under the guise of license by NCC overstretched their limits to impose Junks as SMS adverts to disrupt the sanctity of meditative silence. The business of the network is to provide services and NOT to send sms advertorials to subscribers many of which are motivated to shoot their income astronomically thus, defrauding the uninformed end users. Nigeria is a case of right’s abuse, Only the government have such rights to invade on the privacy of the masses, and where such is exercised, it must be done with caution to avoid litigation; where such privilege is granted by approval to the network operators. It must be paid for and dully charged by government
But you find a system that allows massive unsolicited sms and advertorials and lottery marketing by registered business organization and you wonder who gave the permission for such invasion on the phones of thousand subscriber.
It is more annoying that they are not monitored to check cases of fraud

Telecoms companies in Nigeria Abuse the “courtesies of consent” in mass Text messages to subscribers
Amongst the numerous insanities of citizen’s rights abuse in Nigeria by the so called high and mighty, there is a madness which I can only call the Abuse of “Courtesies of consent” this is not a strange use of words to business owners and contract drafters, but let me use a simple example for the Nigerians society. If I rent a house with my money, and fulfilled all contractual agreement for rights of use, how will the law treat my Land-lord’s insistence to sleep in my Bedroom? Secondly, If I bought a car from a dealer and made all necessary payment for purchase and transfer, How will the law deal with a request of forceful usage of my car by the Car dealer?
Upon those premises, any pundit worth the worth would agree that there is a massive abuse of citizen’s rights in the manner of sending useless and unwarranted Text messages to subscribers. I have not been abroad, I do not envy those who have, but I am sure Our Network providers would not dare to abuse the rights of citizens in an informed environment like Europe or America in sending Junks and advertorials to their subscribers were they, to operate in such countries. I found some of the Text messages very annoying and offensive to my sensibility, How would you impose a Music star whom your adore on me by suggesting that I Press a number to have his songs on my Phone, “I am of the old school diatribe” and opined that most of the so called music of modern days especially by so called Nigerian artiste are nothing but NONSENCE and mere noise that has no moral impartation. It is more worrisome that a Network provider whose business is to provide Network strictly would impose such Nonsense as suggestion with a push on their buttons
Adverts are paid for and government have a right to receive due tax for all of those access to numerous Nigerians. If a Billboard, Radio, Televisions, Internet are not enough for advertisers, they must not infringe on my rights of meditation and quietude where I have no business. I must confess the adverts when not personal have no business with many subscribers. The Promo also is a calculated and devised strategy by the Networks to deviously rob subscribers with unexplainable plans and imposing it when many fall for their ticks
Network Providers must be compelled to limit their reach to customers to issues that are network related, all other intrusion to subscribers by way of advertorials, Promotions, gimmicks, announcements, should be treated as “right infringement” and has been found to be a Plot to defraud unsuspecting subscribers.
Government should hand out strict laws that will compel them to stay within their Operational boundaries without intermittent intrusions to People’s privacy as handed by global best practices
