Lagos State Chairmen Spent 4.5m each to Tinubu's Lecture In USA. by hallmarkacademy: 11:57pm On Sep 03, 2012
Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu really lived up to expectation as leader of a strong opposition party in Nigeria when he stormed Chicago and Washington in the United State of America recently with strong delegation of his party (Action Congress of Nigeria). During the visit, he was a key speaker at a forum on True Federalism in Nigeria in Chicago where a book was also launched. Also in attendance was world famous Reverend Jesse Jackson. A day later, Tinubu bagged an honour, and after few days visit was made to White House in Washington to meet series of committee on development and strengthening of democracy in Africa.  Aside all these, what many people did not know however was; how large was the delegation that was in America to lend moral support to Asiwaju Tinubu. Prominent among the list of his entourage was; Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi; Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi and Osun state governor, Omoluabi Rauf Aregbesola who breezed in and out of the country because of other pressing matter in Osun
This magazine exclusively gathered that the company (name withheld) that was responsible for the package of the trip and the lecture had requested that all the local government and local council development areas chairmen be compelled to attend the event. A letter to the Lagos Ministry of Local Government however got approval, mandating payment of N4.5million as participation fee to the company. The charge include return ticket,  accommodation and capacity building tour of the United States. Some of the local councils that could not afford the money as we were told were debited against their monthly JAAC. In total, about N288million went into the consultant’s purse for celebration of ‘True Federalism’ in America. As at last week, none of the chairmen is yet to return to the country while officials in councils say they expect their chairmen to start arriving this week.
During one of the fora in America, it would be recalled that the Oyo state governor, Alhaji Ajimobi had called on scrapping of local governments from the constitution to pave way for rapid development in Nigeria.Truly some politicians don't deserve our respect.

Am sad after reading this. I pray God should raise men who will be in public office to serve the masses not few priviledge ones( selfcentre Godfathers). Of what benefit is the US tour to the larger lagos public?. Some guys don't worth been there. We now know who are true democrats. Am So sure politicians following Awo's legacy will not act this way. Rather, no bi Awo legacy again na selfish legacy and personal interest before collective interest at play.

Source please. But if true, it doesn't come as a surprise to those of us who know that Tinubu is a criminal.

Why can't you guys discuss substance rather than chasing shadows? The OP posted an article while deliberately omitting the source and went ahead to form an opinion as if the said article was factual and correct. Mr. Hallarmark Academy, you are being deliberately mischievous.

One, your attention should not even be on Tinubu as he is currently not in government and as such not accountable to you or anyone. It would be nice if you could expend same energy on folks running aground the affairs of this country.

This is a completely shoddy , cash and carry journalism with a skewed intent of maligning the person of Tinubu. It's a complete junk-name withheld, impeccable sources balderdash. In an event that lasted a few days, Aregbesola was said to have breezed in and out because of pressing matter in Osun as if US to Nigeria is like Abuja to Lagos. What a complete junk!

@OP,

From your source, did you read the part where Tinubu and Mitchelle Obama were kissing right there in the White house while Obama was clapping for them. And if you turn to the 3rd page of the same magazine, you will see where Tinubu refer to you as a GEJ A*S*S WIPER & M**DER F**KER.

Can you see it?

Obvious market gossip and beer parlor pontification is your level. Have you thought to ask for and inspect the source of the story before even commenting stupidly and shouting Gbawe?

Click the link above to see the sort of story this gossip tabloid churns out e.g "Controversy trails Hon. Gaiya's sex film scandal in London".

I reallly don't know why folks like you cannot be content in the romance, gossip or Nollywood section of nairaland.

Thank you !!! This is why Nigeria has gone to the dogs. I.e too many sentimental, sectional, biased and politically gauche folks insulting other emptily. They chase shadows and bogeymen plus obsess about those not in office, like Tinubu and Buhari, instead of focusing on their non-performing leaders who actually have the office and mandate to deliver solutions.
