Fellow nairalanders I have a little question to ask doctors and student docs in the house this question.
I intend to get back to school to study medicine due to the passion I have for it meanwhile I am working right now but I working seriously on how to drop the job to pursue my dream. I have seen a lot of people who scaled this hurdle and I feel I can do the same. recently I started looking at nursing not that am distracted but I intend going for anaesthetic nursing as I heard from research that anaesthetic nurses are rated almost equally as their doctor counterpart. My question is I have BSc in plant science, if I go for diploma in Nursing, will I be permitted to go for post graduate diploma in Nursing n be able to do MSc in nursing anasthesia with this combination. your response will be highly valued. thank you...

Great article lomaxx. And just what I needed to read too, I was planning to look up on the Singaporean health care structure today. Glad to know others are checking on how to improve health care financing and subsistent health care provision too.

exactly!,the dentists produced by nigeria is not up to the required number for a country like nigeria, all dentists in nigeria are employed, you can never see an unemployed dentist, there are some states in the north which do not have up to 10dentists, what makes dentistry peculiar is cos of "rarity",many government hospitals don't even have dentists cos the ones available are already employed.
.
.
Cc: zellie, sure you're a UNIBENITE, Dr.Austin and Dr.thompson are doctors that graduated from UNIBEN but both now lecture 100 students ,organizing tutorials for them in Physics and chemistry . . .nigeria now have many doctors that even getting residency space is war. . . . . .that's why i said it should be passion driven

You didn't answer my question. What makes their employment rate higher than MBBS's? You're not making any sense, sorry
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Zellie: 9:08pm On Nov 28, 2015
RoastedCorn:
lol! . .i wouldn't wanna start the med vs dent arguement . .but only few dentists are needed in a standard hospital but the number of dentists produced by nigeria a year is very few, don't think it's up to 100 cos the last dentists that were inducted from UNIBEN alone ,is just 9 out of the 25 they admit. . .not too many ppl visit the dentists, yet they collect same salary with their medical colleague with avalanche of patients, the dentist even gets to spend more time with his family.

.
Medicine is superb and very diverse, but plethora of doctors are produced a year, even private universities produces doctors, doctors are now so many that they battle for internship space. . .same can't be said of the dentist.
.
.
The study of this courses should be passion driven
And dentists don't battle for internship space, interesting!

You make it seem like the demand for dentists is greater than the supply because very few graduate annually.

Very few are inducted annually, true, but even fewer are needed.

not possible! . . .go on MDCN site to check . . . UNIBEN has 16 internship space for dentists, when they graduated 9 dentists. . .and only few schools offer dentistry,it's equipments are more expensive to buy for a six yr course. . .if other schools like U.I,UNIPORT,O.A.U and UNILAG could also have internship spaces for dentists and UNIBEN's own is yet to be filled up with "16-9". . . that's what you think, they both have same salary structure and their employment rate is very high . . higher than MBBS's
Graduate first! I hope you would like to share the story. This is Nigeria bro, you will later realize that the number of internship space on mdcn website is actually not so. In fact, After getting your BDS, if you would practice in Nigeria, you "would" want to get an MBBS. Although what most people don't know is Dentists are not teeth specialists alone.

no you aren't starting late. Just give the whole preparation undaunted approach. Create a timetable and make it a sin to deviate from it. You can finish the whole past question too. Avoid desultory form of reading to stay on track. As for the biology, those books i recommend are more that enough because they expose you to answering tricky question jamb. And lastly, don't forget to pray.

Now, I am sick and tired of this nonsense argument about career courses and which is better. I am appealing to medical students on this forum to stop arguing with those who always argue about the importance of their course to medicine. We've derailed way too much. Other fields are appreciated on this forum as long as you are updating people's knowledge, you guys might as well create your own forum (just saying). No one discusses questions again, no one brings medical situations and opinions any longer. All you guys do is to argue how dentists collect higher salary than doctors. I strongly feel my fellow medical students are above this depraved reasoning and arguments. Let us make this forum academic, informative and truly medical. Thank you.
