Pls I dont knw which state university to choose, either EKSU or OOU. Which one out of the two accept 2nd choice for medicine and surgery? I think I should choose medical laboratory science or pharmacy in order to boost my chance of getting admitted since they are not as competitive as medicine or what do u think? Which of the two universities as stated above is accredited, has good medical school, affordable school fees? Pls I am really confused right now and I have been thinking abt these things day and night. Thanks in anticipation.

What do you want? Medicine or the other courses you mentioned. If you're from any of those states, choose its school to boost your chances of getting admitted. Eksu might be easier though.

Hello everyone, I've been following this thread since last year although I've not posted at all.
Please which school would guarantee me admission Into medicine and surgery with a jamb score of 297....NDU or EBSU
Had 262 last year and chose Uniport, unfortunately, I wasnt given medicine..... So I took jamb again and had 297 this year. M just so scared of Uniport after what happened last year.
I need some advice...... Thanks smiley

Please is there any NDU medic here?
How's the COHS like?....
And what's the cut off mark for medicine....
Would I gain admission with a jamb score of 297?

Uniport post ume is not really difficult Per Se..... Just that the timing is brutal. 30 minutes for 50 questions without calculator
Those 50 questions include maths, physics, chemistry, biology and English
Imagine having to solve empirical formula (in the course of solving, u deal with some decimals) without calculator.
But generally, some people are usually do lucky that they don't get loads of calculations in their post ume....

Truth is, your aggregate(sum of JAMB and post ume divided by two) ought to be above 280 for you to get admitted to uniport Medical school, you could still go for it considering your JAMB score but you have to score at least 280 in the post ume... Good luck

Hi nice jamb score..I think you have a great chance at both schools. I am currently in 100 level medicine and surgery in ebsu . I got 279 in jamb last year and 320 in post utme. All u need to do is pass very well in d post utme..and u don't need to be scared. You are going to be fine. Though u could try uniport cuz u have a good jamb score

You were poorly informed by whoever told you that garbage.

To start with, I am a medical student and not a dental student so I will be unbiased and tell you some gospel truth.

1. Graduate of Medicine and Surgery face more stiffer competition for internship placement compare to their dental counterpart. You will never here of any case of a dental graduate searching for where to do house job unlike the numerous cases of such recorded by mbbs graduates.

2. Dental Doctors are scarce compare to medical doctors. For every 30 Dental students, their are at least 120 medical students. They are highly sought after because of their dwindled population

3. MBBS and BDS are both treated as the same on the same salary scale. For the record, the only different between MBBS and BDS is that due to the complexity of the maxillio , head and neck region, a Medical student have to specialize early during undergraduate studies to become a dental doctor while an MBBS holder still has to go for a 3-7 years residency to specialize in whatever field of interest. (specialist are dentist, neurologist, gynecologist etc.)

A BDS holder is a surgeon while an MBBS holder is a physician. (physician are those boring doctors that sit all days in an office just attending to patients).

Mind you, the only aspect we medic are more inform than dentist is in the area of obstetric and gynecology, and physciatric while they are more vast in the head and neck region.

Go for BDS if you love it and don't be discouraged by ignorant people who don't even know what is called a CARDAVA.

You will even here some ignoramus say, dentistry is all about pulling teeth.

If not for the fact I would like to specialize in cardiothoracic surgery or plastic surgery, I personally would have opted for BDS.

Even many people have discouraged me ON studying MBBS. They said many doctors are beggars, one of them even told me he knows a doctor collecting not more than #50, 000. I was told medicine is no longer lucrative like in the days of 80s and 70s. If I had listen to the nonsense and jargon people told me, I would have just accept Agric in good fate.

I just see them as ignorant and blind haters.

The fact is Nigerians love to display their ignorance openly.

You said it all

It is not possible to cross from one professional course to another. MLS and MBBS are professional courses.

The cold morning breeze sweeps in as the giant trees sway in agreement to its direction. The rumbling skies darken as the sun retreats. The heavy clouds float to their strategic positions, ready to launch their assault. The clouds have become archers, shooting darts of raindrops in an episode themed with thunderstorms.

No one advises anyone to put on a thick clothe. No one tells anyone to stay indoors. Mr. Instinct whose seat is in the frontal cortex is pretty good at this job.

This is Abuja; here, when the rains come, they come angrily.

It is raining.
