If you are still contemplating whether 24 years is too old to start MBBS after several inputs from many individuals on this thread up till this point, then maybe you should really check within you to know if you are really passionate about Medicine or want to read it as a result of pressure from family and friends or the seemingly pecuniary gains attached to studying it or maybe you would rather join your mates that are making a pile of money _as time no dey again_... Left for me, someone with a goal won't even be thinking of any other possibilities no matter the age after toiling hard to be on track (admitted), maybe the other options available might just be better than you reading MBBS so I'll advise you sit down to think, you are already a young adult boss so you are allowed to sleep on it and come up with the best choice ... All the best in whatever step you want to take bro Shalom

Okay, thank you

Wow thank so much for that breakdown, so grateful ,but pls I won ask based on the 25 question for english shey the English are based on comprehension,, Lexis and structure, regiater, sentence interpretation, nearest in meaning or opposite, oral English and emphatic stress
Pls can u just indicate the structure for the english...??
Cos some exam for other universities majorly are based on lexis and structure
Just like UI and OAU they even involve phrase and clauses
That my first question??
Secondly do ABU have past Question
Thanks

See, the exam is a Computer Based Test(the questions would be shuffled) hence my opinion about the questions you should expect should not be regarded as the Hallmark.

For the English language aspect of the exam, the topics on which I was tested that I can remember include:
A. Oral English including Emphatic stress
B. Lexis and Structure
C. Synonyms and Antonyms
D. Figures/Part of Speech
E. Concord and Agreement

ABU has no past questions whatsoever.

Good day everyone, I hope you are all doing good

I had to open another naira land account after being a silent viewer of this thread years back

So I passed out from secondary school , took my first jamb and scored low, so my first jamb failed

2017, I took another jamb still scored less than 220 by this time I was already questioning my dream, I wondered why I was scoring low, applied for Unical ... I was somehow hoping that maybe they would even change my course so I could just go to school , I wasn't offered anything

The next year I didn't sit for jamb

2019, I sat for another jamb, scored 232 ,I had belief that I would get that ,but I was offered a biological course instead
..... I've decided to go for it but with the plan of taking another jamb, this time going back to my dream of medicine... I can't imagine myself elsewhere plus it would help me achieve my other aims in life

Presently I feel like my brain is almost blank, I don't really know if I can still read well and prepare in time for next year jamb

Secondly which schools accept those from the middle belt states as a catchment area

Thirdly does ATBU offer medicine and surgery, if yes, is it accredited

I also considered taking GCE due to the fact that my o level is filled with C's , 1 A and 4 C's, please I really need guidance and advice from those who are well oriented

By the way, I'll be accepting that which the other school offered to me , to put myself in the academic system again, I'm one of those whom if not challenged I don't really take this serious that's why

I apologize for making such a lengthy post

Please I really need a quick reply time is not on my side.....
thanks in advance everyone

I have been an ardent follower of this amazing thread... Just felt I should register my present today and drop a little spirit uplifting post, as I have been offered admission into MBBS in Uniben (Utme) and AAU (DE)... Had 88% last year via DE Unilorin and wasn't given anything.

It has been a long time coming but I thank God for the strength given me to always give it one more shot even when all hope seems lost... To anyone who has tried for years without success just be prayerful, focus and get the right mentorship and material for study... Your testimony is next by God's grace... #Shalom

And to the bosses present here thanks for creating time to show us the way in terms of advice and telling us how you overcame your struggles in your quest for admission, may God reward you all beyond your imagination...

your 4 jamb subjects... But there was an element of surprise this year as Medical and biological sciences were given further maths too... While some social sciences saw geography and so many other surprises like that...

For medicine: 15 English, 10 Bio, 10 chemistry, 10 physics, 5 further math making a total of 50 questions

Engineering were given their normal 4 jamb combination.

The Surgical (Operation) Theater: A Brief Look into History
Ever wondered why it's called a theater?
Well, just so you, know, what is today, a serious, sterile and well coordinated life saving procedure was once done for public attention.

In the early years of surgery, only tooth extraction was done. Before each tooth extraction was done, a public notice will be made for people to watch the procedure. So, it served for public attention and entertainment. Hence the name, theater.

Today, what started as a site of entertainment, is now used to carry sterile and well coordinated surgical procedures, not intended for public attention, but solely for the well being of the surgical patient. This is the surgical theater.

Thanks bro.

Can you tell me about admission transparency at OAU?
OAU Admission is quite 80%+ transparent. You meet the cut off mark and your chances of being admitted stays at 90%+ except wrong utme or olevel combo.
OAU releases cut off marks yearly and trust me, her medical degrees are very competitive.

Congratulations on your graduation! 2:1 is awesome too. If you're still going for MBBS ensure you register for both Utme and DE ( Your chances are greater).
Get a copy of JAMB brochure, check for Uni that accepts 2:1 for DE MBBS and if you trust yourself to blast Utme then register and choose a different university too.
Bosses like @Acecube got MBBS both with the Utme and DE (UniBen and AAU).

Good day everyone, I hope you are all doing good

Right from when I was a kid I always said I would be a doctor, probably because my dad actually envisioned me being a doctor

I had to open another naira land account after being a silent viewer of this thread years back

So I passed out from secondary school 2016, took my first jamb and scored low, I was one of those students who were given extra 40 marks, we all scored low and jamb gave each of us extra 40 marks, I smelled foul play with our results but when you are practically a nobody in this country, who would listen to you..... I still continued with that result due to lack of orientation thinking I would get in, so my first jamb failed

2017, I took another jamb still scored less than 220 by this time I was already questioning my dream, I wondered why I was scoring low, applied for Unical ... I was somehow hoping that maybe they would even change my course so I could just go to school , I wasn't offered anything

2018 I didn't sit for jamb, it was yet another wasted year, it wasn't really wasted per say as I actually reflected over everything made some contact with those who were already in the labour market and decided I'll go for nursing instead

2019, I sat for another jamb, applied for bayero, scored 232 ,I had belief that I would get that ,but lo and behold BUK decided to offer me zoology due to the fact that I wasn't from any of their catchment area.....

Hmm... I think I need to tell you some point blank truth while still being as sympathetic as possible.
1. I believe you ain't doing your best when it comes to utme. If you truly want any medical related course then be ready to cross the 250 mark. Even in some schools 300 in utme won't get you anything not to talk of Zoology that BUK offered you. ( apology to Zoology peeps).
You still have almost 4 months before utme 2020, if you think you can ace utme with preparation in 4 months. Good luck and I wish you best of results.

2. Being from Benue state is not what's holding you down but you may apply to schools that Benue is part of their catchments (check jamb brochure) or your state Uni.

3. ATBU offers MBBS and it is accredited. ( I don't know their admission modality tho).

4. You feel B'cuz your Olevel is C's that it is part of what's dragging you back. Truth be told in some schools like UI, Udusok (Olevles has little or no effect) while in some like OAU it takes as much as 10%, in some schools like 50%.
Preparing for GCE is nice but do you have the time? It is easier said than done. Can you be reading for Utme, BUK 100lvl and still be reading for GCE?

I will tell you to sit down and plan how much stuffs you want to have on your plate. Make your enquires well and chose what's best for you. It is never too late to study ones dream course.

I am 26, a Microbiology graduate, presently undergoing my
NYSC. I have been planning to put in for medicine immediately
after my service easy (Direct entry). Pls what advice do u have
to render your Boy. Should I continue or i should go in search
of job after the service, as age is no longer by my side.
hmm. Congrats on being a 1st degree grad! How's NYSC?
If at 26 you believe age is no longer your friend then I don't know what people at 30, 35+ studying MBBS should say. I understand how you may be feeling. Job insecurities, family expectations, peer pressure etc. If MBBS is all you wanted please go for it. Whether you like it or not you'll clock 35 later in life, you can as well be a Doctor too.
If you still want to go for MBBS, please try both DE with UTME. It will double your chances of getting in without you having to waste the year. Also remember to choose different schools. I don't like suggesting schools so do your homework on schools of your choice. You can later suggest it to the house and students of such schools will tell you loopholes to avoid and other necessary information.

PLEASE, REFER ME TO THE PAGE WHERE THE PRECLINICAL TEXTBOOKS AND RECOMMENDATIONS WERE MADE HERE IN ORDER TO GUIDE MY CHOICE.

THANK YOU.
page 646 has a copy of the page to textbooks links. I really can't find where recommendations about books were made once. At different times people only dropped their own review and opinion about a particular book.
Ensure you talk to seniors in your school, they should be able to give you some good advices.

. UDUSOK uses "only" UTME for Admission consideration.
If you're not from catchment area please aim for 300+ in Jamb, also, there are catchment areas that are VERY competitive. Places like Kogi, Niger, Benue, Kaduna...don't be surprised to see someone from Niger who had 280 in Jamb being offered Applied Chemistry just becos others from his own state had 300...
.
UDUSOK is a nice school and very anti-social.
Their medical facilities are great.
Plus, their quota is only 100

Just prepare well for the Jamb and try to be the best from your state and admission will be yours

Udusok do not conduct post utme but don't be surprised if they start from next year. Right now what you heard about them not conducting is very true.
Udus admission modality are numerous and not too straight. Many things are considered by the sch admission officers before offering one a slot. (Utme score, state of origin, gender, local govt, subject combo, olevels, being matric student etc)
To non catchment states just 1 or 2 or 3 students are admitted and they have to be the Highest from that state. So just aim to be the highest from your state that applied there. But 320+ should cut you off every competition. The highest I know who applied Udus this year had 320 and he's been admitted since before people like me got considered self.
For some catchment and ELD states like Kwara, Niger, Kogi etc even 300 in utme doesn't guarantee admission into Udus.
From MDCN, Udus enjoy a total of 100 as quota but the UG1 that just finished are 170+ (fresh and repeater) and those that just got admitted / considered seems to be moving towards that number.
Also NUC just approved Dentistry for Udus, some of my fellow aspirants with very high scores got moved to BDS. Sokoto is quite safe and Udus MBBS is also very smooth. Uduth also have a standing reputation.
All in all, Grace, Good Preparation and Choice matters.

280 in Jamb to Applied Chemistry is still nice... This year some 280's got nothing while some Primary Education, Adult Education, Fisheries etc. Udus is not that very antisocial naa. At least they shill had jambitos day. Tho their dressing rules and regulations may seem archaic.
Anyone coming should be well prepared.

I personally didn't use lamlad,I didn't like the textbook cuz it's not readable,it doesn't have the complete syllabus for jamb. Its only good if you want it for questions to solve.
