National honours awardees stranded in Abuja …as FG fails to provide accommodation, flight tickets. MOST of the recipients of the 2012 National Honours were stranded in Abuja on Sunday as the Federal Government failed to provide them accommodation as it was the practice in the past. The honours are expected to be conferred on the recipients on Monday (today) at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. A total of 149 recipients will be conferred with national honours with Chairman of Globacom, Mike Adenuga, receiving the highest honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger. Most recipients, especially Abuja non-residents, who arrived in Abuja on Sunday evening discovered that the government made no provision for their accommodation and flight tickets. During former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, all awardees were each provided with accommodation or N50,000 in lieu of it. http://www.punchng.com/news/national-honours-awardees-stranded-in-abuja-as-fg-fails-to-provide-accommodation-flight-tickets/ |

They'll all be compensated with parcels of land in Abuja so as not to be stranded when they come for their next national chieftaincy 1 Like |

If this is mismanagement, then I guess it should be continued, o because obasanjo was doing it, it has now turned to a law....... If they can't transport and accommodate themselves, they should stay back in their locations. 3 Likes |

I understand there has been a lot of misconception as to why my name is not on the list and others have been wondering whether i have fallen out with Jona boy. Please let me set the records straight, i decided that i am not going to be stranded in Abuja since no accommodation or chartered flight was being made available, besides, i have since taken advise from my family and community that the class of people being honoured presently do not deserve to share the honour with me, hence the need for me to decline the offer. To my teeming fans, please do not misunderstand my actions, i intend to uphold the trust that you have always reposed in me. 2 Likes |
