I need some advice.

I wish to import a food product from Europe and distribute i Nigeria and I will be registering it with NAFDAC.

The trademark for the product has been registered by the foreign manufacturer in Abuja under their name.

I now wish to know how to proceed.

if the trademark is already registered in nigeria then your problem is half solve all you need from the original trade mark owner is an assignment of that trade mark to you or alternatively a power of attorney to you which empowers you to register the product with NAFDAC. pls note that the process of regisration with NAFDAC is quit cumbersome and time consuming.
