A state governor, Okorocha, scrapped this road that leads to the state's university teaching hospital, Orlu since 2012. Objective? To make the hospital become non-viable in its location, so that he can have reason to trade the institution with Owerri politicians for his on-going private university in his hometown..

Please and Please again, Rochas did not build any school, what he did was to renovate some schools like my fmr primary school now ikenegbu girls and other. Township school opposite Dan anyiam stadium is a Federal Govt Fund, if you doubt check the walls of the buildings and you will see it.

Can Rochas tell the world one single project he completed and currently in use in Imo state?

Rochas is the worse enemy of Imo state and he had single handily destroyed the state. He should sincerely tell us one single :

1.Hospital he completed?

2. Market he completed

3. School he completed

4. Good road he completed.[/b]

ETC

Rochas is just a scam and wicked person.

My brother none, don't mind that paid sycophants called Abagworo, I was born and grew up in Ikenegbu Layout, I am from Imo state and I repeat again, ROCHAS is a scam. Apart from Ikeduru General hospital, ask that Abagworo to show you pictures of much publicised 27 hospitals, Tell that paid boy to show you Chukwuma Nwaoha Road, MCC Road, Ikenegbu inner roads, World Bank Roads.

Owerri city school and Comprehensive development secondary school.

You are a confirmed HELL bound candidate, a liar for saying that Rochas built those schools, point of correction Mbakwe built all those schools and what rochas did was to repaint and change the roof from Asbestos to Aluminium. I challenge you to mention 20 roads, 20 hospitals, 20 markets built by Rochas

Abagworo:

I will show only 10 schools out of over 400 he has built. These 2 are Ikenegbu girls and Owerri city Primary school.

You said Rochas built over 400 schools in this my Owerri or another Owerri. Please name the 10 schools

Abagworo:

Just 4 out of hundreds of roads.

1 Akachi

2 Ochiedike

3 Nworie and

4 Ikenegbu

After Okorocha, next is you when it comes to being politically dumb.

Owerri is a tiny percentage of Imo state.

If your Okorocha likes, let him paint the streets of Owerri with gold, and abandon rest of Imo, as they are today, he shall remain the worst governor Imo state ever had.

Mbakwe provided most expensive regional water supply schemes in Owerri, Aba, Umuahia and Okigwe, provided more of these Okorocha projects in five cities -Owerri, Aba, Okigwe, Orlu, Umuahia - in just four years.

Rochas is the worst governor. Go and see the rubbish rochas is doing in owerri, demolition without building. If they praise rochas this way then how about Mbakwe that built Aba, Owerri, Orlu, Okigwe, Umuahia, Oguta, and others. Mbake built Ikenegbu layout ( more than 2000 2 story uniformed buildings) He built Ikenegbu Extension, Aladinma, Old Federal House , Trans-Egbu, Prefab, Aladinma Extension, New Owerri, and others.

Nigerian content workshop holds in Owerri

Owerri — Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, says Nigerians have a lot to gain in the recently passed Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) by the National Assembly.

According to him when signed into law, the issues of exploitation and exploration of petroleum resources in the country would be solved.

He spoke yesterday at the opening of a three-day Nigerian content workshop in Owerri, Imo State with the theme, Maximising the Nigerian Content Policy for Sustainable Business Growth and National Development.

Represented by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Tayo Alasoadura, Saraki said the passage of the bill was consistent with the determination of the National Assembly to continually legislate on good bills that centre on welfare of the citizens, efficiency in the oil and gas sector, among others.

He noted that piece of legislation was split into four categories namely Petroleum Industry Governance Bill; Petroleum Industry Administration Bill; Petroleum Industry Fiscal Bill and Petroleum Host Community Bill to fast-track their passage into law.

The Senate President recalled that the upper chamber of the National Assembly had, via a motion, established the need to ensure greater degree of local content in the nation's oil and gas sector.

The host Governor Rochas Okorocha pledged to donate land and office accommodation to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) for the development of oil and gas sector in the state.

He told its Executive Secretary, Simbi Wabote, that the state government had set aside over 20,000 hectares of land for industrial park, expressing desire to partner the board and those in oil and gas industry for the development of the state.Okorocha urged the Federal Government to consider the state as a hub for economic development.

nice job Abagoro, you are simply the best and my favorite opost in nl. thanks for the steady update on the latest development in Imo.
Rochas though not perfect has been impressive. Imo is not a very rich state but the governor has been able to develop the state with the little resources at his disposal.

traveled to Owerri three weeks ago and I must confess I saw mini Las Vegas springing up_____New bridges, Roads, Tunnels, canti street light, more Entertainment edifice like hotels, pleasure pack, recreational centers, casinos, etc. And I was like wow!

Love hospitality industry and it quite a multi billion dollars industrial that has made many cities around the world like Paris, Las Vegas, etc.
Get to the states and you would always want to see Vegas and I would want same for my dear Beautiful owerri. I simply love the current developmental drive of the city towards hospitality especially the current administration effort towards same. Going by this pace I think we can achieve it in no distance time

am surprised how @Abagworo hasn't come online to defend his foolish paymaster Who erected a statue of a corrupt individual who in his own country people hates i just can't imagine that because zuma came to owerri just for 2days that fool calles rochas did a statue for him when he knows that he hasn't paid salaries, constructed those roads he destroyed, built new markets, almost all roads in imo is bad and erosion is eating it away because the drainage is very poor

yet Rochas comes to erect a statue which costs a huge amount of imo state money i just wish thunder would strike that statue
foolish Governor

Rest of Imo state abandoned to decay by Okorocha government. You believe Okorocha must use the funds meant to develop Orlu, Okigwe, Oguta and other towns of Imo to build your lot a Las Vegas in Owerri. People of Las Vegas developed their city, not wait for a state governor to use resources that should go for infrastructure in other cities to build Las Vegas.

Were cities surrounding Las Vegas left to decay as Las Vegas was being built?

I have never been a fan of Rochas but I think it's unfair to say that he has not done anything. Rochas has actually done a lot to uplift Owerri. The reason why a lot of people are very angry with him is because of the massive demolitions that rendered many jobless, however, if he could complete those roads and markets he demolished before the end of his term, posterity will judge him well. Even when Mbakwe was doing his miracle in the old Imo state, he was called the crying governor but today he is the greatest governor ever to rule Imo state. Moving Eke Onuwa away from Douglas road is in the best interest of Owerri and we all will soon see the benefit. Owerri will be one of Nigeria's most beautiful cities in the years to come and Rochas will be remembered for contributing to that feat.

This video has been available for months and the project was approved since 2015. This should put to rest the Zuma statue controversy because Governor Okorocha specifically mentioned the names of the statues expected to adorn this Heroes arena. Ojukwu, Mbakwe, Azikiwe, Zuma, Obasanjo, Akufo-Addo, Sirleaf etc. and this was long before Zuma's historic visit.

I am not part of his media team and neither am I saying he is perfect, of course there are still a lot of uncompleted projects he embarked upon but at the same time he has equally performed significantly within Owerri. You all should stop making it look as if Owerri was paradise before he came on seat. I've been in Owerri since the time of Achike Udenwa, I was schooling at FUTO then, and Aba road was a total mess, he dualised it and also created a bypass (Akachi road), Orlu road was dualised & expanded, ditto Okigwe road and several others. Many secondary and primary schools within the city were in deplorable condition, today they are now fit for learning & I can't start mentioning them because they are quite many. You are forcing me to do what I hate doing, more so to someone I'm not a fan of but the truth has to be said. Imo state is not a rich state & can't be compared to states like Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa etc but his achievement is better than some of those with big budget.

I am afraid I beg to differ. Annual JAMB records show that Imo State indigenes seek university education more than any other state in Nigeria, even before Mr. Rochas became governor. Therefore, for a state where its citizens seek higher education in large numbers, common sense should tell their governor and high-networth-individuals (HNIs) from the state to invest massively in its education sector.

That being said, it doesn't in any way justify abandoning IMSU and IMSUTH though. But I think why those two are gradually collapsing is that the state governor grants free education up to university level, hence no money to run them effectively. This, in my opinion, is completely unnecessary as university education is NOT for everyone. Yes, you read that right: university education SHOULD NEVER BE FREE

And before someone calls the free education thing a scam, well, I know it's true because my kid brother finished from IMSU.

I quite agree with u that uni education must should not b free cos is very expensive to sustain.
I was really surprised when a cousin of mine that is in imsu told me that they are paid around 100k every year by the state government to cater for their fees and every other expense in school. I was like is it for real. when rich state like river are withdrawing students on scholarship. I think it may not be sustainable though it will have a very positive effect on the over all drive toward education in the state if managed to be sustained.

Sorry, your arguments above do not add up. If a governor is giving free education but Imo State University (IMSU) Owerri, and Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), Orlu, are abandoned to collapse, what is the sense in the free education?

IMSUTH is even worse, scores of students are in their 9th year of a 6 years course, but still cannot sit for their last MBBS exam because of a little amount of money needed for accreditation of a few courses.

Law Faculty of IMSU has just got accreditation again after a long time. Still, Eastern Palm University is built by the same government. So?

Owerri recently hosted the Catholic National Choir Fiesta for Universities also known as Forum for the Inculturation of Liturgical Music (FILM).

No fewer than 50 choir groups from both the Federal and State universities across the country are expected to converge at Imo State capital, Owerri for the 2017 edition of the National Choir Fiesta otherwise known as Forum for the Inculturation of Liturgical Music (FILM).
The event which will be hosted by St. Joseph Chaplaincy, Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri from Sunday, 1st to Sunday, 8th of October, will be flag off with a pontifical Mass to be celebrated by His Grace, Most Rev. Disclosing this in a press briefing, the St. Joseph Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony P. C. FILM affirms, encourages and nourishes the goodness and promise of our young Catholics and invests in their robust development.
“FILM brings together Catholic Choirs in Nigerian Universities, every two years, in a one week Music fiesta, during which brand new Liturgical music compositions, by these young choristers and composers.
“The New Compositions are based on various indigenous languages and cultures in Nigeria such as Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Efik and so on. During FILM festival these new compositions are played formally for the first time, in the highest standards possible, for the edification and spiritual upliftment of the audience and eventually for the enrichment of the treasury of church music,” he noted.
Njoku who availed that over 1,600 student delegates, 100 officials, National executives officers of FILM, chaplains of catholic chaplaincies, founding fathers of FILM and other clergies will grace the 7 day event, also used the opportunity to invite the general public and youths in particular to the glorious occasion.
