I'm somewhat impressed with the little i've seen of Owerri and Orlu......not up to my usual exacting standards, but impressed nonetheless! What they need to do now is pay attention to detail: smooth-out rough edges here and there, and improve on the general aesthetics of Owerri and other Towns by planting ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges, as well as planting/maintaining carpet-grass on all open spaces! 1 Like |

IGBOSON1:Good take. But apart from Owerri where the state govt maintains all these facilities, there may be no authorities in the other towns to maintain the roads when they develop potholes, talk less smoothening up of rough edges and planting ornamental trees along the parks and roads. The LGA Chairs are powerless, same as so-called Mayors. For example, in Orlu, most of the urban roads built by previous state governments have broken down, no repairs. If the state govt can set up and finance a task force in every LGA, equip them with tools for road maintenance and gardening, better. |

abagoro: I MUST CONFESS THAT AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE PICTURES OF OWERRI AND ORLU. The clown known as millionaire man have all this while been deceiving the gullible. It is now clear to all that Orlu have received more attention under Gov Rochas than ever before with many economic structures like smooth dual carriage roads with street lights and walk way, good hospitals and schools, modern shopping plaza and big markets, 2 tertiary institutions, factories and lots more !!! Its amazing to see several banks opening branches in Orlu and doing well. It goes to show that there is an increase in the volume of money in circulation in Orlu. This is good to see !!! 3 Likes |

RareDiamonds: You grief not impressed. At the beginning of this thread, your lot took it for Few Pix From Owerri - not Imo state. You posted developments from Owerri left, right and centre. Some of us would not allow you continue with the impression that all about Imo state is Owerri. If clamouring for even development of entire Imo state, as I do on this thread, is being clownish, let me remain a clown - as you called me. |

RareDiamonds: TERTIARY INSTITUTION (UNIVERSITY OR POLYTECHNIC) IN ORLU? PLS STOP LYING, THERE IS NONE; Okorocha govt is establishing School of Health technology in Orlu as well as duplicating two or so depts of IMOPOLY in Orlu - that's all. Okorocha govt also duplicated some depts of Imopoly in Mbano and opened a new full-fledged College of Education in Okigwe zone. 1 Like |

RareDiamonds:Posers: If you do not like injustice answer these: Did late Gov. Evan Enwerem from Owerri do right when he located IMSU in Owerri which then hosted and still hosts FUTO, ALVAN, FED.POLYNEKEDE and College of Agriculture, NOW IMOPOLY? Is there any other state in Nigeria where five of the Universities and Polytechnics in the state are located only in the senatorial zone of the state capital - except Imo state? Note: Owerri benefits from IMOPOLY, Umuagwo, very close to Owerri, more than any other zone. Is it right the current phenomenon in which if, for example, an Orlu parent can afford to sponsor one son/daughter in any of the universities and polytechnics scattered in Owerri, an Owerri parent can afford to sponsor three or more sons/daughters at the same time - because the Owerri wards all take off from home - no rent payment? Is this phenomenon not bad and creating educational dichotomy in Imo state? 1 Like |

RareDiamonds: Note: Past Imo state governors refused to raise permanent structures in Owerri campus of IMSU because they realized it is unjust to have IMSU permanently located in Owerri. So even if Okorocha builds sky scrappers for Owerri campus of IMSU, in future, it shall remain a mini campus of IMSU - not permanent. Today, there are more than 120,000 university and polytechnic students in Owerri alone. Any day any serious governor opts to consult Imo populace to relocate IMSU from Owerri, the governor shall receive overwhelming YES from majority of Imo population whose tax - not Owerri tax - funds the university. 1 Like |
