While patients are being tossed to and fro, some die in the process, govt reluctant to respond to the strike. It has become a case of the grass suffering while the elephants fight. The worst is that the press is totally silent about it all. Where is the way forward?

You're not current. The strike has been called off.
The press are silent now,but if doctors were involved, the whole country would have been screaming "humanitarian" from the rooftops. They forgot this strike totally paralysed all hospital activities. Doctors could not run clinics cos no medical record staff available to sort out appointments; could not attend to emergencies because nurses had locked up consummables like sterile gauze, plaster, syringes, spirit, even thermometers. Patients could not buy drugs cos pharmacies were locked. Labs were under lock and key, labour wards, dialysis units, theatres closed. Patients already on admission had to go cos no nurse on duty to serve drugs or take vital signs, dress wounds etc.
I've never witnessed a doctors' strike that was total, cos there would always be some doctors on ground to attend to patients; at least house officers and consultants, but this last strike by other health workers was deliberately crippling. And the reasons for the strike IMO were not justifiable. Majority of what they are agitating for are not feasible with our current civil service rules. Unless they want the civil service rules to change cos of them.
