I think the purpose of life is for the slow , but steady evolution of consciousness.
Every single life, from the micro-organism, germs, bacteria, right to the human being, all contribute their quota, no matter how small, to the evolution of consciousness, as well as in its physical manifestations.
Thus, evolution seems to be the driving force behind all existence. Everything is striving to be different, and perhaps,better than the its previous level.
In the human sphere, every single person participates, either by actions or inactions, in determining and ultimately shaping the type of society that we live in.
On the individual level,most people spend all their lives either in the shadows of others, or, in the cocoons of their various isms. Many seek growth by accumulations(thanks to the name-it-claim-it theology of the evangelicals), while others seek the exploration of nature and insights about existence.

Bottom line is, at the end, we would have contributed something, either genetically, by way of reproduction, or by contributing our own accumulated knowledge and insights. Either way, we add to the evolution of consciousness.

Life gives itself a purpose simply by being alive. 'God' would face the same dilemma (if indeed it is a problem) either ways.

Life covers the Creator as well, I would have to accept that the Creator is conscious and not a conscious dead mass. So the question still covers him.

1. Why does life exists?
2. What is existence , and is it the same as life? Can something exist without being alive, or does all exist for the purpose of living?
3. What do we humans live for, How do we add meaning to our life and existence?
4. Do we exist to live just one short trip on this physical earth, or is this just a stopover on a much longer journey, and, ofcourse, what is the ultimate destination?

They always say there is nothing new under the sun - it was an adage. But there is something new to human race - that is KNOWLEDGE.

We are all responsible to do Good for our own good and those around us. I think with all good intentions, in most actions, our world would always be a better place to live in.

I think it is a good thing if we can appreciate the fact that there are some elements that make it possible for us to exist on this planet and if all we do is to allow what we do to encourage this existence that may just be enough to define goodness in itself.

My answer to your question is that we are existing as part of universal existence, experience and development of the universe. We are both spectators and participants without being wholly participant nor wholly spectator.

What most people in some societies think is spiritual is actually tricks (magic) mastered and carried out by individuals (or group of individuals). Spirituality itself comes from an human mind and preparedness to explore into the extraordinary.
