Only an insane mind will keep doing the same thing time and time again and expect a different kind of result....we all clamor for order and sanity in the way we are been governed and someone here is trying to put things in the right way and change the way we do things lawlessly and some fools here are getting mad.....if you are not comfortable ...get the hell out of the city!!!!

I'm not suprised lagos is turning to a country on It's own. Afterall, they've got their own coat of arm. However, I know some people will call these policy rebranding but to me It's mere stupidity.

The next law will be that if you are not a Lagosians by birth you must naturalize within the next 6 months.Oga Fash should cool down o. He should face projects that will affect majority of Lagosians positively, mst Lagosians are below poverty level. Less that 1$ a day.
Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by Nobody: 10:56am On Oct 04, 2012
Often and often you see all these Abia..Imo...Enugu ..Ebonyi registered commercial vehicles around the Mile 2-Apapa, Okomaiko and ASPAMNDA axis engaging in "One-Chance" activities and you are left with no choice than to agreed that these vehicles were intentionally registered that way to come and commit crimes in Lagos.
Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by wirinet(m): 10:58am On Oct 04, 2012
Outside revenue generation, i do not see the benefit of this law. How does the fact that a car is registered in another state make it impossible to enter such car in a lagos state data base, especially if the car is registered with lagos to operate as a commercial vehicle. You should see the tons of papers necessary to operate as a commercial vehicle in lagos. To make the matter more absurd, car plates registration and allocation is still under the purview of FRSC, and unless the constitution vests that responsibility with states, Fashola is just engaging in a hypothetical academic exercise.

Cars in lagos renew their licence yearly, wether the plate number was registered in lagos or not, why not lagos state work with FRSC, to capture all cars renewing vehicle particulars in lagos. They could alternatively work with insurance companies to capure all cars insured in lagos.
Governing requires more brains than brawl
Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by solomon111(m): 10:59am On Oct 04, 2012
alj harem: The only people angry at such laws are the "mama I dey go lagos". If these idi.ots have brought kidnapping etc to Lagos. Now a thinking governor said commercial use vehicles aka danfo and Co should have Lagos state registration and plate number so when we see abia or borno plate number on danfos and Co we can know that this one Christmas money e dey look for aka kidnapping or worse.

Biko if you don't like the law that protects her citizens, we have 35 more states we all can chose to live in. abi na by force say you MUST live in SW Nigeria ?
God punish you and your SW,if you do not return the sack-loads of petro-dollars,and taxes generated from oil-coys,resident in lagos to the Niger-delta.
Fuccking parasites!.

And for those still under illusion as to how things work in our climes, the govt ideas may always come sounding nice. But go out to the field and see - the practical implication is a sharp contrast from the theories - More Hardship!
Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by Nobody: 11:03am On Oct 04, 2012
No point making noise....if you can't cope living in Lagos with it numerous laws you have more than enough options. Lagos State will be willing either to transport you for free or pay you to go live elsewhere where there are no such laws and you are free to keep living in the old ways that Lagos is trying to break away from.
Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by tmontee: 11:08am On Oct 04, 2012
Delafruita:
A person who has chosen to make a living via transportation should be ready to obey the laws of that section.for example,if a person operates a bus on a personal basis and decides to convrt it to commercial purpose, the law states he must change the plate number to the red-coloured commercial plate number.is that double registration?for those who live in lagos and have fallen victim of the one chance menace,we appreciate this law.the lagos state government has sanitised and is still sanitising the transportation sector.almost all vehicles in lagos are now in the database due to the electronic vehicle license renewal system.this will definitely aid in fighting crime.besides it makes absolutely no sense to purchase a vehicle in lagos, register it in plateau and then use the vehicle in lagos.many of those vehicles never even visit the states their registration was done in.lagos state is showing us how it should be done and in my opinion, this should become the standard.vehicles should be registered in the states where the owner is resident

I quite agree with you. People should learn to look at the bigger picture, when all commercially operated vehicles are captured in the database it is easier to fight crime. People who have fallen victim to these charlatans before would appreciate this better. Like someone said, if this is what it would take to move Lagos state forward then so be it.

Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by flexya: 11:18am On Oct 04, 2012
Shine ur eye. Its all about money.

Is RE-registration goin 2 be free. Shouldnt each State govt be workin on unifyin their VIO database across all States? Won't this achieve a more worthwhile outcome? Wasn't that the purpose of the new (now old number plates)? Soon, when LASG runs out of ways 2 get more revenue, ppl will be taxed for wearin white shirts on mondays!

Naija, shine ur eye. Its a pity no one will challenge it in a court of law? Gani Fawehinmi, u r missed. The initial registration of a vehicle is done by/thru the FRSC. So it covers every part of the federation called NIGERIA. For commercial vehicles in Lagos (like all states), they pay 2 obtain their hackney permits 2 LASG. So the data that LASG wants 2 collect cannot be collected then without this unconstitutional back door taxing?

I smell money in this new law. I intend to break this obnoxious law and then sue their azzes for huge compensation. This law needs to be tested against the laws of the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA of which Lagos state is just a minute member. Lagos remains the smallest state of the federation qua landmass.
The case will be handled at Abuja.

REALLY LAGOS STATE IS TECHNICALLY ASKING PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATE NOT TO COME INTO LAGOS.
THESE LAWS ARE BECOMING TOO MANY,EVEN THEIR AGENCIES NEVER OBEY THESE LAWS.
TYPICAL EXAMPLE IS LASMA,NEVER PUTSEAT BELT,MAKES CALLS WHILE DRIVING AND ARE THE MOST RECKLESS DRIVERS ON LAGOS ROADS

[OYINBOGOJU]

It takes a civilian dictator like BRF to rule Nigeria and not a weak man like GEJ.

my friend GEJ is not weak! what an elderly man saw that makes his eyes sink if a small greedy, rude, anxious thief and selfish boy like fashola see it, that eye would have blind or gone forever so dont compare a king with a porn!

Tonex: Nigerians moan about everything. Our failed democracy has shown that without draconian rules, Nigerians do not have the discipline to do the right things. I support Fashola for this bold move. We need a very firm hand since we have decided to remain unruly
To support a Government despite its actions without considering the motives rightly is absurd mentality of "My Town person", "My Political Party", "My Religious Sectarian"........etc is killing our federal character. Leader reap off follower in the name of sanctity, do you think Nigerians are barbarians? No, we are not. The Governor should make public consultations, he made manifesto campaigning of involving the people so why draconian laws? To leave a legacy you must live by your words, right creeds and empathy!

[spendogram]FG does not seem to have control over activities
within its territory but Lagos wants to. There is nothing wrong with
that. This is a good move from the Lagos State Government. Ensuring that
individuals behind ANY activity is traceable to a database is the simple
rule of modern governance.

my friend this plan and policy is part of what will be included in the constitutional review but not to the extent of not drivine in othere state with another plate number, fastoler and Tinubu rush hijacked the thing and plagiarised, this governor is a thief ole. he even put it in the wrong way na their God take catch am.

another weird move by fashola. applying this to private cars will result in chaos.lets say i come to lagos for a 6 month diploma course at unilag and i come with a car having kwara plate number does that mean i will be arrested ?
what if every other state decides tow the same thing policy in lagos so i'll end up with 35 number plates if i have to touch every state in the country abi?
stop all this unrealistic policies please.
Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by Nobody: 11:59am On Oct 04, 2012
Simple thing..many people don't understand, they just read the headline without reading the body of the write up and then rush to put their usual rubbish comment. You simply cannot paint another state registered vehicle in Lagos State commercial colour.

Pray tell...what is so difficult in that??
Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by etunoman76(m): 12:01pm On Oct 04, 2012
obasy09: The title of the report is misleading and I hope the poster did not do this intentionally to either discredit Lagos State Govt or to make sure that the topic generates traffic.
A simple comprehension of the report will reveal that only commercial drivers that are resident and operate commercially within the State are affected. The commissioner clearly stated that interstate vehicles are not affected. He pointed out that only vehicles that pick passengers along Lagos road (irrespective of whether intrastate or interstate) will be penalised or required to have Lagos driver licence.

What about the issue of private car owners? Still trying to understand d logic behind the part that concerns them
