Thanks Dave, I have wamp downloaded. I have books too. My problem at this point is that https://localhost does not connect. Kindly hint me on what to do. My learning's stalled. I want to move forward.

http://localhost is where u go, remove the "s" in https

make sure wampserver is started and running.
any file you need to run must reside in C:\wamp\www\

so if you save a file at C:\wamp\www\folder\file.php
you must access it as http://localhost/folder/file.php

go to youtube, there are beginner videos there.
