How would you then react to the report that the government now employs ex-militants in the Niger Delta region to protect oil installations and pay them in millions? http://sunnewsonline.com/new/politics/niger-delta-planning-secession-waku/ |

Good on them! If they had a sense of belonging in Nigeria and felt they have control over their collective destiny, then there'd be no talk of secession......simple truth! |

Why are northerners always comparing Niger-delta militants and boko-haram? They are obviously different in all ramifications, it's irritating when these northerners speak. 6 Likes |

Another attention seeking pun* azz. The BH guy will never come out to negotiate for reasons that are quite very obvious. They are not waging a war against any form of injustice, but rather are a bunch of brainless, intolerant bigots. |

At least they have a plan! What is the plan of the north? To bomb innocent Christians as collateral damage while they profess it "Mohamaed will" Abi? Atlease GEJ is getting something right. |

Belgium may break up soon, see this; http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2012/1015/breaking27.html So also Catalonia secession out of Spain, see this; http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981700159 So if Belgium and Spain can or may break up, what is the problem with Nigeria breaking up, our differences are far much more than that of Spain and Catalonia or Belgium and the Flanders. We will surely divide, and it is coming soon. |

Nigeria's way of thinkning is that, like with Biafra, nigeria will not allow delta to break away as it needs their oil. If there is a way that they can breakup and leave their resouces for nigeria, no problem. |

Waku is saying the home truth. It's unthinkable for mere ragtag never do wells to be guiding strategic pipelines in a country where billions are spent on Military every year. It does not help national security for such a sensitive sector to be left in the hands of modern day militants. Thumbs up Waku. |
Re: Niger Delta Planning Secession - Waku by wirinet(m): 1:55am On Oct 16, 2012 |
I am forced to align with Waku (the mad man) here. Giving militants money to safe guard the pipelines can only work in the short run, it would backfire in the long run. Can and will the government be able to give millions of dollars to the militants forever? What will happen when the flow of cash stop? What will happen when a new president from another region of the country take over? It is also a dangerous precedence to be paying N64,000 to 26,000 former armed militants - mostly ijaw youths (out of millions of unemployed youth in the Niger delta). That is the equivalent of a standing army that can be used for anything in the future. |
