After studying Electrical Engr, a cousin of mine went for masters at ukraine, only to discover that Elect. Engr was being thought in the native ukraine language. He spent extra yr and cash enrolling for ukraine lang, this didnt work out as he could only master the basics of it: 'come and eat', 'go to bed' etc. He was soo frustrated that he had to opt for Electronics, which was taught in English. The aim of schooling 'abroad' was previously to get quality education and exposure which isnt available here, why study in ukraine when the quality there is being doubted by an ambasador? |

Ukraine is not a good place to study bc their schools are not up to standard and language is another problem. Malaysia offers standard schools but Malaysian schools are expensive almost similar to what you pay in UK or USA. School fees in Eastern European countries like Ukraine, Poland etc is very cheap that is why many poor African students are rushing to Ukraine and Poland to study. For me Ukraine is good for sex tourism, any young Nigerian man that likes pretty young sexxxy girls should go to Ukraine to have fun. Ukrainian girls love 9ja men. You will know whats up once you enter any club in Ukraine. |

The koko of the matter be say: Do not study in non english speaking countries unless u're ready to spend at least 6 months learning their language first. Finally, before leaving the country for studies make sure u're leaving for somewhere much better in terms of educational standards. Research on the school very well and compare it to schools here. |

Was the Nigerian gvt not aware of the ineptitude/knowledge gap in English language when in recent times, they announced a postgraduate scholarship for Nigerians to study in some of these non english speaking countries countries like russia, morrocco algeria, ukraine etc?they claimed it's part of measures to promoting bilateral relations thru signing a bilateral educational agreement with these countries. Now our ambassador has seen it all to have advised against such.to me,if its not Uk,Usa or canada, its not worth it.my opinion anyway! |

homeboy232: out of point, all of u are talking out of point..russia a world power country, most of there lecturers are world class , as far as people from canada, usa, uk, germany are studying in russia, who cares if an ordinary under employment nigerians wil condemn those seeking for greener pasture in europe..rapid rate of students studying in abroad wil surely sink nigeria institution very soon, that is if they fail to develop, the ambassador is only speaking out of jealousy, because, even the poor can afford money to study in eastern europe.....Those who study in those non-English language countries are largely studying linguistic or the language of those countries. It's less likely to be any technical field. Please, stop spreading false information here. Studying in other countries with different languages is not easy. One has to be proficient in any of the languages to have better understanding of what one is learning. So, it is required to have a year or two language test before going about professional or other courses. Spare us the excuse of people from English-speaking countries study in those non-English-speaking countries. And, so what? Must we follow in the foot steps of those countries when we cannot even organized a language test for own people? Please, stop sending your children to Ukraine or Russia for studies! And, personally, I don't like those two countries! |

I keep wondering why we believe that anything Nigeria is inferior to anything western. It is agreed that the standard of education in our tertiary institutions may be falling but we must admit that some of our schools are okay and better than some of the schools some folks attend out there in name of attending a foreign university. |

I won't blame anyone going outside d country to study, nigerian universities can't admit more than they can train, imagine over 80,000 applicants for a university that can admit barely 7000 students at a time, where do you send d rest to?, better half education than none. |

From my own point of view the Ambassor is talking out of point, she is only trying to prove that she is functionin in her office, i believe she must have gone for surgery overthere to have known all that. Thank God she survived it otherwise the story would have been different. In Finland our student rush there cause its free education knowing fully well that its not an English speaking country, what about that? nonsense. The idiot that is condeming indian as a third world country...How come our ppl go there for surgery and are they not the once functioning in our telecomms industry here in Nigeria and they not doing excellently in their field?.....My question is....does it mean that proficiency in english determines competency in once field irrespective of your country?.....Pls answer me the man/woman that has hatred for indians and ukraine.Bear it in mind that it is these so called indians that operates very well in ME-CURE MEDICAL HOSPITAL IN LAGOS-OSHODI... |

sprringx: If you fail to qualify for university scholarships, consider enrolling in Universities currently offering free tuition in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Iceland, USA, Australia, Finland and Netherlands. Trust me, this is not like any other plug you've read, this is an updated list for 2013. Although not as many as before, there still are countries that offer free tuition for international students. Call Victor on 08186002427 or email sprringx@workmail.com and request for the latest updated 2013 e-book for tuition free Universities in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Italy, Iceland, USA, Australia and Netherlands. The earlier you apply for Spring Semester the better your chances are. Email us or Call Victor now and grab this opportunity!I absolutely disagree with the line in bold. The ambassador is right to point out the error in the whole studying process with basic evidence regarding the Ukrainian language which is the lingua-franca of teaching in Ukraine, and Nigerians barely know the word come in that language before heading to the country for study. She even sight about 800 people in the medical field who are probably not performing to their potentials due to this language barrier. Indeed, I would opt for those being sponsored by parents and government to start thinking of studying in English speaking countries. There are good numbers of choices to choose from. |

onatisi:Keep twisting it in whatever way you like. There is no way those Nigerians who studied in Ukraine can be as proficient as those who studied in US, England ,Canada or Australia as a reason of the language barrier. If asked to speak the language which they have been thought you would find out they can barely do that, not to mention studying Engineering or course as broad as medicine in it. Please!!! |

Hey Guys!!! The point isn't about "do not study in non English speaking country" as far as Europe is concerned, that is so blanket. The point is about ensuring that you study in western Europe to be on a safer side. eastern European countries are generally of lower standard. There is element of truth in what the ambassador was saying. In terms of international standard, Some Ukrainian schools are substandard but compared with anything in Nigeria let's not deceive ourselves, they are still better. If u want to study abroad and u are looking at Europe for example, look at Western Europe and search for courses taken in English. If u can find any course u like in English, go for it. If I say Western Europe, I mean countries starting from Austria, Germany and farther to the west.Excluding Czech Rep. and the countries in the south excluding France if u speak french, otherwise stay west or Scandinavia. Cheers! 2 Likes |

Intellectual development is a relative thingRanking is not the bone of contention here but the language barrier. You are too obsessed with the very idea why the ambassador is against such idea. Indeed, I would want you to point to many Nigerians who studied in that country in their various field compare to those who studied in English speaking countries of the advanced world. The argument is about language barrier not the standard of education. Which, the ambassador is right on about! 1 Like |

Every comment here makes a lot of sense to me. Still, I love what you have just pointed out. If education in Ukraine is $20,000, he wouldn't see it as a problem. Intellectual development is a relative thing Dude, 1stly, I don't know where u got ur ranking from. 2ndly, if u think its all about people don't value what is cheap, I need to help u know that u are wrong. The fact is that Germany for example is the king of Europe in different ramifications and still, there are universities in Germany where u can actually study for free or at a fee 10ce cheaper than what u pay in Ukraine even as an international student. But have u heard anyone talking down the quality of education in Germany? English or no English? I am just laughing when u wrote "speed passing western European countries" Even Ukrainian themselves will beg u not to compare them with those countries in the west. Cross check ur facts. |

The ambassador is a fool . In what way is Nigerian standard of Education better than that of Ghana or even Togo . Go to our general hospitals & see how our own indigenous doctors r killing pple ever day & demanding 4 better pay . Russia is a wold power & Nigeria a 3rd world country that buys technology from this countries . Their tuition fees r low because Education is mostly financed by the government 4 ur information . days of free education in Nigeria is over . Is it in our Nigerian skools that we r save . Have u all 4gotten the 40 Students killed in Muda or the Aluu 4 .The level of cultism in our Higher institutions . Make u na sharaap ! Stupied fool ! 1 Like |

The Ambassador and members of the Federal executive councils are bunch frustrated fools.there was a time they sponsored an article forbiding people to go to Qatar and work, now its for students not to study in Ukraine.it is pure jealousy that's worrying them.before you apply for a course in a non english speaking country, they'll specify whether the course is taken in their native language or english,if the student is noh patient enough to fill his course form,he/she should bear the brunt of a studeant that does not read instructions properly before proceeding on an exam paper. |
