Respite has come the way of 37 residential estates that were to be demolished in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority (FCDA).

It would be recalled that the demolition of a 500-unit housing estate built by a private developer in the Federal Capital Territory called Minanuel Estate, Lugbe Extension 1, along the Airport Road, raised a lot of dust because several innocent ordinary Nigerians who lost out when the 10 billion Naira estate was demolished cried out.

The Senate's decision was made known by the Senate Committee on the FCT Chaired by Senator Smart Adeyemi.

In its defence however, the FCDA sad that documents submitted by the estate owners showed that they did not comply with the appropriate laws in acquiring and then building the estates.

But pundits have opined that if that is the case then they could be pardoned rather than destroying assets and rendering thousands of Nigerians homeless especially as the government has cried out that there is a housing deficit in Nigeria which it does not have the funds to meet.

Actually the demolition is turning into something else...

Some of these demolition looks like a personal vendetta being undertaken.

Why is it that FCT Ministers enjoy demolishing people's houses. This was the same thing that that short Aboki Elrufai did in his own time. This is getting out of hand and so many people are getting displaced daily. They can't even pack to their villages, as floods are noteven helping matters.
