In the Gospel, Jesus says that Mary has chosen the "better part" by choosing Him rather than choosing household chores like Martha.

My question is, how can we be Marys? Are there any encyclicals or Magesterial documents that outline how much of the day should be spent with Jesus?

While we may often times argue that changing a diaper with love is "prayer" or being with Jesus, I do not doubt that Martha had the love of God in her heart while doing chores and yet, Jesus says Mary chose the better part.

It is inevitable that you may have to spend more time on less important things I.e Mass is more important than lunch, yet we need lunch every day but don't get to church that often.

How do we strike a good balance?

I just believe time should be apportioned for everything as we deem suitable; keeping ourselves away from irrelevant matters while building ourselves up spiritually. I don't think that should mean our daily task aren't important.

D story is just teaching us to be sensitive and do d right thing at d right time and em i might as well add thaaat, jesus liked food and so when he came to his friend's house, d sister started getting him food knowing he likes dt but jesus corrected her to be sensitive, letting her know dt there's time for everything.
Its ok to be a mary sometimes and a martha some other times.

There's time for everything. Jesus was hardly ever in their house but when he was there, one seized the opportunity to listen to him while the other continued with her normal chores, even though she loved him as well.

We all face those situations sometimes.

You are at mass and you are thinking of other day to day worriem..for example...

We all know when tha moment comes when we should chose Jesus above other things. We should seize the opportunity.

well whatever jesus says, those chores wouldn't do themselves, would they?

A 10 minute proper prayer/devotion everyday is better than a 1 hour once-a-week prayer sesh for instance. After your 10 minutes is up, you can do other tasks smiley
