@poster. I don't know how you rated your rappers for Tupac to be ahead of Biggie. Biggie is the King of word play and story telling. I believe Nas is the best when every aspect of rap is combined but Tupac is more or less just influence and flavour with "enemies" and "hennessy" being over-emphasized in his rhymes. Rakim is on another level. Cheeck this word play Hah, sicka than your average Poppa Twist cabbage off instinct, niggaz don't think shit stink Pink gators, my Detroit players Timbs for my hooligans in Brooklyn Dead right, if the head right, Biggie there every night Poppa been smooth since days of Underroos Never lose, never choose to, bruise crews who Do something to us, talk go through us Girls walk to us, wanna do us, screw us Who us? Yeah, Poppa and Puff Close like Starsky and Hutch, stick the clutch Dare I squeeze three at your cherry M-3 Bang every MC easily, busily Recently niggaz frontin' ain't sayin' nuttin' So I just speak my peace, keep my piece Cubans with the Jesus piece with my peeps Packin', askin' who want it, you got it nigga flaunt it That Brooklyn bullshit, we on it |

OK this is going to be a LOOOOOONG ONE! So I will break it up into parts!! ezotik: Personal feelings are just that. Seldom is slander the truth. nobody gave a shiit about his albums until he became a controversial character by creating the fake 'east coast vs west coast' beef. Now you KNOW that bolded line is an out right lie. The album that put OFFICIALLY Pac on the national map was "Me against the world" album which was released TWO YEARS and some change before the "east coast, west coast beef" which BTW was promoted that way BY THE MEDIA. His biggest hits from that album included "Shed so many tears" and "death around the corner"...because they touched the masses. On East vs. West...ummmm..Pac's beef was a personal one with Biggie who he thought, along with Puffy, set him up in a near fatal incident in 1994 in which he was robbed and shot multiple times. As Ice T put it "if you think someone tried to kill you...it's on FOR LIFE!"... infact, tupac didn’t have an identity in hip hop until he became a controversial character. On the contrary Pac DID have a character/identity...HIMSELF. He rapped out what he thought about life from the perspective of a black man who wanted to see his race uplifted. Pac started out on that black power stuff because that is what he was surrounded by. From Maryland to his adoptive home in Marin City, Oakland, CA he was surrounded by ex-Black Panthers Party members. He spoke what he knew because they LITERALLY raised him. He started talking about the thug stuff because he also was exposed to that at an early age. Knowing and hanging around the dope dealers, killers; etc. the same people who sold the poison to his mom...crack. .... |

he was digital underground’s oyegbe and a naughty by nature’s sidekick and no one gave a shiit about his albums coz no one knew his azz in hip hop. Please name ONE rapper who dropped a mixtape or first album and automatically reigned as the "best" or worthy of the "throne" right then and there. I'll wait hun because I know it will take you a LOOOOOOONG time.... From Eazy E, on the Snoop, on to Common on to 50 to Em' - NONE OF THEM started out as upperdogs. NONE OF THEM. In fact Em (as depicted in his movie 8 Mile) was HATED by his own community in Detroit who didn't even feel his style and the fact that he was white. Look at him NOW! Pac was with Digital Underground who were popular for a few songs such as "humpty Dump" and even then they were not considered the "hottest" in the game. Other established or up and coming rappers out of Oakland such as Dru Down, Too $hort, The Luniz, Mack Dre, E-40; etc. were the ones get it popping and respected. Not DU my dear. So you can see the issue with that as far as major promotion for Pac who was just happy to be on tour and away from the madness in his hometown. Plus the message he was talking about was overshadowed by other rappers who were more destructive with their lyrics such as NWA, Lynch Mob, South Central Cartel, Mc Eiht, Second II None, Snoop & Dre (Death Row Camp), DJ Quik; etc. Nobody wanted to hear that "black power shyt" true but Pac still did what he loved most. He didn't set out to be famous, in fact Shock G was the one who encouraged Pac to test the waters in the rap game. Pac started out writing poetry mind you..many of which discussed his wanting to get away and escape it all. As he would later realize though, the same people he loved the most (blacks..such as yourself) ONLY CARED about drama and badness. The more trouble he got into in terms of with the law and fights with movie producers the more people started trying to figure out "who is this Tupac"? But it was never a publicity stunt to be famous. What REALLY made him big was Pac's BIGGEST problems: being too emotional and having a big azz mouth. THAT was is what got him in trouble. He talked too much and was very opinionated. Nothing about him was about trying to maintain some "gangster image to make it big" as you claim. The love for blood by his own blacks added with sisters demanding his imprisonment after being accused of r@pe despite his black women uplift songs such as Brenda's Got a Baby and Keep your head up, is what brought the Bishop that was already in Pac ALL THE WAY. He went from caring about black elevation to "i've been shot, robbed, betrayed, only loved for my controversy...so fck EVERYBODY!!!!" So its safe to say the hip hop fans and circumstances dragged him into the game full fledged. And once he committed it was on! in his words, he said people mistook him for treach due to his lack of identity as a rapper. and why wont people mistake him for treach? when he was always around him licking his azz. WTF kind of logic is that? They favored and they were HOMIES...two peas in a pod. In fact it was TREACH who approached PAC for friendship around the time Juice came out. Pac loved the energy he got being around his boys and respected Treach. It had nothing to do with azz kissing. Stop lying. and mind you, at this time, he already had ‘keep ur head up’ and ‘brenda had a baby’ that no one gave a shiit about but were later classified classics due to his early death. Are you KIDDING ME? Those songs were two of his biggest HITS as an independent artist post DU!! WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING? Those two tracks are what gave him leverage and ultimately what helped his 1994 album "Me against the world" sell well. His name was out there already not just because of his affiliations but because of his delivery and his messages. His following began after Brenda's Got a Baby initially because at that time in the black community post the crack epidemic LOADS upon LOADS of young black women were getting pregnant in their teens and lacked ambition. It was a street anthem! Come on now! I thought you were into hip hop! |
Re: Hip Hop Culture: Who's The Better Rapper - Nas Or Jay Z? by Nobody: 11:11pm On Oct 30, 2012 |
people only knew him as an actor (which he truly was), bishop from juice. a role that was not even initially intended for him but for the dude from digital underground who threw him the role for being a good messenger who wipes their azz. Lemme get back to your first post and then I will address this madness...it was a well known fact that Pac was into arts, acting and dance. He went to one of the best schools in Maryland despite his personal situation at home: only father figure locked up with a life sentence and mother on crack cocaine. He was a troubled soul who knew that an education and alternative lifestyle was the key to ending the cycle that corrupted his family. Pac NEVER hid that fact and on several occasions even after becoming big was very eager to discuss and open about his youth in the arts and his love for dance. That is why NOBODY tried to call him out on it because he ADMITTED IT. He wasn't ashamed of his love for arts, poetry and acting. But the REAL lifestyle of Pac wasn't that glamorous. A lot of dudes who claim crip, blood or what ever would give their left nut to be enrolled in schools or given a chance to live out fantasies to escape their realities but it's our r3tarded sub-culture that believe a black man must be hardcore and damn near illiterate to be "legit" in the rap game/general, why many hesitate at the idea of taking advantage of opportunities. If anything DU gave Pac the spot light BECAUSE of his wanting to rise above the statistics of the black males he knew. He wanted to be off the streets. He was hungry, Shock G saw it and gave my man a chance. Pac tried to slang drugs but had too much love in his heart that he knew it wasn't right and when he saw pregnant women strung out (hmmm reminded him of his mother) on crack he left the game and decided to pursue one of his loves: Acting. The problem with people who think like you is you try to use that "he went to ballet/acting school" against him and any other rappers who had a degree or passion for some shyt that is not the "stereotypical black stuff" and fail to realize some of the most notorious killers were into what we see as weird shyt. Allow me to digress a little bit...Ted Bundy the notorious serial killer went to three universities and was a top knotch white collar kind of guy. Gacy another serial killer was a goddamn clown who used to entertain little kids One's love for education or their profession no matter how weird does not determine their level of badness or evil capabilities. By no means am I saying Pac was a serial killer, but even though he went to ballet school Pac was Pac. He was what he said he was. Pac was just as troubled and a menace to society as he said he was in part because he was educated and also because he was a "typical thug" aka black male who happened to have had a bad temper, big mouth and a history of breaking the law . |

he was doing well as an actor but unknown as a rapper, and after two failed rap albums, how do u create an identity for urself as rapper? start beef with most of the already well known rappers. Are you kidding me? Which rappers did he beef with for fame Ezotik? Or are you mixing up Pac with someone else and after successfully beefing rappers, he grew wings and thought he could take it up a notch and beef real street gangsters. good thing they reminded him, the streets aint hollywood where the actor gets to live after death. Do you even know the situation and reason behind his murder? I think you are clueless. legend my yansh. Legend your yansh? Well you must havea gigantic one because it is a fact that for ours and the generation before us, Tupac Amaru Shakur was the most influential rapper of our generation and among the few of all time!! This has even been recited many times by many rappers who helped start the genre. Nobody can take away what Pac brought to the game. There will never be another one. EVER!!! And you talking about Pac was fake...don't let me get started on your boy Jay Z. Because you talking about dyk riding. Every New York MC or older hip hop fan will tell you about how he used to beg Nas and Biggie to be on their records and used their rhymes in his songs/freestyles. He claimed to be a drug dealer yet nobody really cosigned to this claim. Furthermore he didn't even make it into the "big league" until Pac and Biggie died (1998 LMAO!!). In fact he invited HIMSELF into Pac's beef with Biggie with his underground/side line disses. Pac released two tracks dissing him and slayed him into submission. SO everything YOU said about Pac in reality applies to your boy... lol btw...unlike someone Nas can go back to his hood...and virtually ANYWHERE in NY Why do you think that is? NAS && TUPAC FOR WHAT? LYYFFFFFEEEE!!! |

loool @ the long boring essay but failed to answer the simple question i asked. did u bump 2pacalype and strictly for my niggas? Now you KNOW that bolded line is an out right lie. Pac's beef was a personal one with Biggie who he thought, along with Puffy, set him up in a near fatal incident in 1994 in which he was robbed and shot multiple times. As Ice T put it "if you think someone tried to kill you...it's on FOR LIFE!"... so apart from biggie, why did he beef nas, jay z, mobb deep? coz they had solid debut that he lacked? and to answer ur question of who had a classic debut... if i remember correctly, illmatic got 5 mics from the source. Nobody wanted to hear that "black power shyt" true but Pac still did what he loved most. loooolest, are u saying pac was the first to start the 'black power shyt'? off the top of my head, i can name public enemy and krs one who were already big in the movement and well known in the game, before pac came with his mediocre lyrics that no one gave a shiitt about. in fact, in one of pac's interview, he credited krs one as the 'real hip hop' |

ezotik: loool @ the long boring essay but failed to answer the simple question i asked. did u bump 2pacalype and strictly for my niggas? um, i have answered every SINGLE question with my long, informative and REAL essay. As for your nonsensical question, considering i was still in huggies then..you do the math. But now? hell yeah. "PANTHER POWER!" no, that album was release during the beef. and the album got some buzz because of the beef and after he miraculously survived getting he shot 5 times, that was when people wanted to hear what he had to say. from that little buzz, he did diss tracks to diss biggie and other east coast rappers who were already well known and rod the beef thing till he got silenced forever like a punk he really was. Lying azz. That album was recorded before the beef. Me against the world was recorded in 1994 and released in 1995 missy. None of the tracks on that album dissed Biggie LMFAO . In fact he was working on that album when he got shot...tisk tisk. Here I am thinking you knew what you were talking about...on second thought, actually I never did. so apart from biggie, why did he beef nas, jay z, mobb deep? coz they had solid debut that he lacked? Um no! This is what further lets me know you don't know anything about Pac. In 1996 the Dogg Pound shot a video called "New York, New York" in which they were dissing the east coast and kicking down sky scrapers. This was after Pac signed the deal with death row and vowed to make Biggie, Puffy and the entire Bad Boy staff "crumble" since he believed they set him up added with the influence of Suge Knight who was convinced they also played a role in the murder of his cousin in Atlanta. Anyway, after the Dogg Pound got involved, those artists decided to jump in including Capone and Noreaga who shot the video "LA, LA". That is how it happened. They dissed Pac FIRST even though it was really Snoop, Daz and Kurupt who did so out of "allegiance". Pac said it himself in "Hit 'em up" and "When we ride on our enemies" that he was ONLY TALKING ABOUT BIGGIE but everyone else decided to jump in. In fact even DMX dissed Pac. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS EZOTIK. STEP UR GAME UP! and to answer ur question of who had a classic debut... if i remember correctly, illmatic got 5 mics from the source. LOL Sweetie, NAS STARTED OUT IN 1991..ILLMATIC CAME OUT IN 1994 LOOOOOOL! #SLAYED! loooolest, are u saying pac was the first to start the 'black power shyt'? Go and highlight where I said that! off the top of my head, i can name public enemy and krs one who were already big in the movement and well known in the game, before pac came with his mediocre lyrics that no one gave a shiitt about. in fact, in one of pac's interview, he credited krs one as the 'real hip hop' Ok...Pac paid homage LIKE A REAL MAN SHOULD, WOULD AND COULD...That is all I got from your closing rant. lolz. Nas & 2PAC 4 LIFE!! >>> http://hiphop365.com/?p=8840 |

"In fact he was working on that album when he got shot" kelis...isn't that what i meant that his album got buzz after he survived getting shot? why can't u read and understand? and i never said pac dissed biggie in that album, but from the buzz of the album, he made diss tracks to diss biggie and other east coast rappers and that was how he became well known due to his controversial character and not necessarily due to his lyrics. the little punk rode the beef thingy and even had the nerve to diss dre who made him hot. pac was hot from 94 to 96 when he died. check the time line, u will see he was only hot when he was beefing. before then, nobody gave a shiit about him..lol, what a loser! |

ezotik: "In fact he was working on that album when he got shot" And you're still lying. smh. Pac already had a following by then Ezotik. No need to lie on the man. Please produce ONE diss he made to those "other rappers" please. the little punk rode the beef thingy and even had the nerve to diss dre who made him hot. Interesting. And I can guarantee YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW the reason behind the beef yet you call the man names...tisk tisk. 2Pac was and still will be the greatest...who are you? pac was hot from 94 to 96 when he died, No shyt! Right @ his prime!! Only 2 years SOLID in the game and ran things..still do with authority! Been dead for damn near 20 years and STILL is among the hottest . You will RARELY find a person who would not have Pac on their top 10 best rappers list. check the time line, u will see he was only hot when he was beefing. before then, nobody gave a shiit about him..lol, what a loser! Only hot because of beefs? What a loser? ROTFL! I don't even need to list Pac's glorious achievements babes. You are already mad as it is!! #comedy! So much energy hating on one person who is deceased btw..yet he is a loser. LOL. |

ezotik: "Please produce ONE diss he made to those "other rappers" please. " Lol that song was called WHEN WE RIDE ON OUR ENEMIES...WHAT YEAR DID THAT COME OUT EZOTIK? Officially in 2002 (Better Dayz album)! LOOOL! Pac died before that song was released LOOOL! Even when the original version was leaked in like 1998 or 99, he was already gone by then. But it was recorded in late 1996!! After he got dissed by them! also, More facts you failed to mention. Again, Pac got shot in November of 1994. Thug Life album was released in September. Certified Gold and received an "A-" grade by October with a 3.5/5 star rating. I think your claim that Pac only got buzz from being shot has just been slayed. |

This was a track Jayz, Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie and others were dissed on ONE track which was really the intro..and guess what PAC WAS ALREADY DEAD when it was made public. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cwFlNaC00w RECORDED IN 1996!!!!!!!!! Released in November 1996 2 months after his death. He was RESPONDING...so please don't lie on the man. |

You can tell when people have no idea what they talking about or the subject matter and only recites and spits out the little pieces here and there they consume from biased uninformed written articles on certain websites etc OR they know the truth yet will attempt to twist it to favor their arguments OR maybe they're just plain delusional... I think @ Ezotic falls in the first category. To say PAC had no following before 1994 or no one knew him until the beef or until first shooting incident is just plain laughable.. Biggie and Nas are my men but I will not even dare think put them over PAC. Pac was way more influential across all hoods in America. Yea I'm a new yorker but the truth is Even Nas and em back in them early 90s only really had a following or strong hold mostly in the east coast. Pac was revolutionary and had more influence. Dude wa doing charity work and empowering blacks youths across the country at a time when Nas and em were trying find themselves.. Btw I have intentional not mentioned jigga man because even though in my opinion the most financially successful rap artist, he is not even close to been considered the best rapper ever in new York let alone to be considered the G.O.A.T. The title will always be among BIG, PAC and NAS. But PAC always spoke and rapped from the heart and gut and the better overall so I hand him the crown.. SHOCK G from the Humptys put it beautifully in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUo2hzc0vG8 1 Like |

Pac was grossly overRated.....just like many artist when they "Die" suddenly they are elevated to a higher status in history that their musical content did not produce while living....people who are less knowleadgable ...seem to forget ..Pac was villified and crucified for his childish immature corny lyrics prior to his death. His chauvinistic views towards women were condemned..so were his fake thug lyrics.... This is the same ignorant hypocritical clown who made "dear momma"..then turns right around and writes..."I get around".... Ill rip this thread to shreds soon as my state gets In order. Darkskin has some decent points...but his fake thugness has to be called out and put into proper perspective along with his basic Jarule-eque type simplistic lyricism and wordplay. I will educate you children hopefully in the upcomming days Pac holds the distinction of being the greatest rapper of all time along with being the Most OverRated Rapper of All Time. I will explain why. |

Biggie was way too advance. When pac died, his music spread round the world and he became influential. Don't get me wrong I love 2pac too.but the truth shuld be told just the way it is pipu Pls pipu u need to listen I repeat listen to music ,forget about the delivery ,listen with ur mind ,body and soul. If u are a literature student u wuld appreciate biggie and nas ,most especially biggie cuz of his use of literary devices Nuff said |

*Kails*: Pac was no Killer...and He was no Thug....he was a fake...stop it lol He lived his whole life on the east coast untill he went out to the Yay, and started watching crips and bloods and copied their lifestyle. He is the epitome of a fake thug...... As if pretending to be a Thug is something to Glorify....<--That alone is bad enough with these people. Pac did not have all of these legal troubles as a Teen and Child!...Where are all of his gun arrest at 9,10,11 years old?.... Stop it. This shitt is not a game.. The Crips and Bloods live that Shiitt for real, This was a east coast cornball who went out to california and "copied" what he saw....AS A GROWN MAN. Just like the Legendary Triple Og Crip Ice Tea said about back.... "Pac died because he started trying to live his Lyrics...and his Lyrics were not real".... All that thug talk never started untill he moved out to California.... Oh so if i move out to california as a Grown Adult Male i can run around pretending to be a mid 20s Blood?!!?..... What the fuc...come on now..He was a Grown Adult Male...not a Little Boy. What grown adult Male does some wack shitt like that?.. Yall need to stop with this Boolshitt. Pac got crucified for Bringing "Faith" name into a diss record...that was cornball Punk shitt. How are you going to mention some man's wife/girlfriend and slander her because you got "pretend" beef How did Pac Die?.... He died like a coward and a Fool, he was caught on Night Club Casino Cameras Stomping a "Crip"...A real Crip....With a Pact full of Bloods.... And He died at the Hands of a Crip from retaliation. Good for him Dumb Black Fool That is what you get for pretending to be a Thug. Where was his Tats and Guns, and Thug Life Lifestyle when he lived in Bmore??.... Punk azz Got chased out of New York...like a Coward. Shot Up a Bunch of Times and RAN TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY jUST TO BE SEEN ON CAMERA WITH A GROUP OF 30 BLOODS STOMPING ONE MAN....GTFOH SON! Ran over to the West Coast and tried to Hide Behind Bloods. I rate pac as The Greatest Mc Ever for His Influential Artistic Style.... But just because his Influential Artistic Style was "great acting" does not mean it was real.... Pac was nothing but a great musician and a Actor, Subpar Lyracist And a Fake Thug.. Lets leave it at that and stop trying to prove "Thugness" that was never there. Real Bloods and Crips come from generation of generation of crime families...they put in street work in their early Teens. Jordan is the Greatest Basketball Player ever.....But when fools say garbage like "Jordan was the greatest 3 point shooter ever and had the best Left Hand Ever"... That's when you have to get called out on your crazyness..... It is possible to be both the "best" and the "most OverRated" Pac fans Are Delusional...Respect the Man as an Artist not as a Man. All that fake thug Imagery got generations of black men killed and incarcerated ...... Including his Dumb azzz.... Celebrating a dude who was a Convicted Rapistt..who ran around and touched little girl butts, just because he Died.....GtfoH. Pac was Black Trash.....And Pervert Greatest Rapper Ever.....but Pure Black Trash and More Importantly a Fake. .......Ted Bundy....LmL Suck on ya Thumb and Go to Bed. |

nyameke: You can tell when people have no idea what they talking about or the subject matter and only recites and spits out the little pieces here and there they consume from biased uninformed written articles on certain websites etc OR they know the truth yet will attempt to twist it to favor their arguments OR maybe they're just plain delusional... and u are one of those who have been conditioned to like pac because majority says he was the greatest. bullshyte. and i repeat, pac had no following as a rapper when he first came out. and the beef with biggie who was arguably the best at that time, did help put his name out there as a rapper. just to name a few, dre, ice cube, snoop and the dogg pound had followings for spitting that gangster shyte. naugthy by nature had a huge following and ruled the airwaves, das efx had following because of their unique style, wu tang had a following, even onyx had a following but who the fvck was paying attention to 2pac back then until he started beefing? |

Sorry to bump into this debate. But wait o. Did I just see somebody say, Pac never did a diss record aimed at East Coast's leading rappers at the time? Go listen to 'Bomb first' from 'the Don Kiluminati; 7 Day Theory' Album (1996). |

Seriously there were some rappers that I listened to their freestyle from the 90's yesterday and I realized hip-hop is declining. Rakeem, Eric Sermon and Big Daddy Kane could be better than all these people but because their music wasn't international, we in Nigeria don't know much of their music. I urge all those arguing to take their time and study these people's lyrics and flows. |
