Which Is Correct; 'change' Or 'balance'? by Nobody: 4:11pm On Nov 15, 2012 |
I had an argument with someone whether the correct English word to use when you pay for goods or services with a higher denomination than the actual cost, that the money you get back is what? I said change but he said it's balance. Views needed please. |

the appropriate word is balance. The use of these words depend on the situation. In business situation it is more appropriate to say `balance` which is the remainder of your money after paying for goods or services with a denomination higher than actual amount of your purchases. Then change is used when you want an equivalent of your high denomination money in lower denominations. 1 Like |
