"We will not obey the law or do the basic things we need to do to make society better until government has made everything perfect". Smh. |

1) The government has put in place the BRT system (including air-conditioned buses). 2) The government is building the Lagos Rail Transit system. 3) The government is implementing the Lekki masterplan. 4) Roads are being constructed and maintained. Etc. Now, if you say the government needs to do better in implementing these projects, I will support you. But, to say that our children should continue to be deprived of pedestrian walkways, that their lives should be put in danger until the government puts in place a perfect society... Come on! 1 Like |

Sarcoc: People in the diaspora should advice these ignorant lagosians on the benefits of Fasholas deeds! People often say that these governors see who things are done abroad when they travel and yet can't introduce them in they states. Is your road better than the one in the US. Do you have electricity 24/7 like you get in the US. Government should focus more on infrastructural development. What our Government does is formulate policies for citizens to follow but they fail citizens by not providing basic amenities. |

naptu2: "We will not obey the law or do the basic things we need to do to make society better until government has made everything perfect". It's always convenient to adopt a simplistic approach to very complex challenges. That's the way of the Third World. Taking stock of the real problems on ground and thinking up and implementing lasting solutions is too much harrdwork. . .so we prefer to simplify the problem so that we would use simple pseudo-'solutions' to gloss over it and postpone the evil day. Story of our lives. |

naptu2: In the 1970s and '80s the Lagos Island Local Government enforced the law against parking on the sidewalk. They also had parking metres at designated places..... yeah ur right ,many undergrounds parkings then. |

Sanity (from Latin: sānitās) refers to the soundness, rationality and healthiness of the human mind, as opposed to insanity. A person is sane if he/she is rational. Insanity, craziness or madness is a spectrum of behaviors characterized by certain abnormal mental or behavioral patterns. Insanity on the other hand may manifest as violations of societal norms, including a person becoming a danger to themselves or others, though not all such acts are considered insanity. In modern usage insanity is most commonly encountered as an informal unscientific term denoting mental instability, or in the narrow legal context of the insanity defense. In the medical profession the term is now avoided in favor of diagnoses of specific mental disorders; the presence of delusions or hallucinations is broadly referred to as psychosis. When discussing mental illness in general terms, "psychopathology" is considered a preferred descriptor. In English, the word "sane" derives from the Latin adjective sanus meaning "healthy". The phrase "mens sana in corpore sano" is often translated to mean a "healthy mind in a healthy body". From this perspective, insanity can be considered as poor health of the mind, not necessarily of the brain as an organ (although that can affect mental health), but rather refers to defective function of mental processes such as reasoning. Now, I fully understand why some people on NL prefer the status quo in Lagos. |

How did most of these houses WITHOUT parking spaces manage to be built with the approval of governments(then and now)? |

Biggyd2: How did most of these houses WITHOUT parking spaces manage to be built with the approval of governments(then and now)? God bless you. An orange tree cannot fuss over other orange trees for looking like mango trees...because it knows that every orange seed contains instructions on how to become an orange tree. Complex societal anomalies are often solved by asking the simplest questions. How did we get here? Why is the white man over there and we are still stuck here? Because we continue to have people in government who only understand the power of leadership negatively. Fashola has been making efforts to appear exceptional among the pack of anti democratic governors littered over Nigeria, he is highly commended. However, he still falls far short with these symptomatic laws. If the mega city DNA is not engineered now, this law will leave piece with him. |

POTUT: I have 2 NEPA poles in my compound . now how did that happen. (ask my landlord). There is no DNA presently. you cannot re-design Lagos in its present state, you can only refurbish it. All the development going on should have happened 15 years ago. but wait.. Tinubu was in charge then Yes Fashola is working (well) but nothing exceptional. it is his Job. what would be exceptional is how LASG intends to solve the problem of Over-Population in Lagos - internal migrants and over-(se.xually) active indigenes who bless us regularly with area boyz. The future of Lagos is bleak.. the root problems must be managed with a solution that is sustainable. the burden on the shoulders of LASG are is too much for these developments to be sustainable. think of it this way, if you build 1 toilet for 10 families, 2 years later you will need at least 5 toilets because they would have grown beyond their present size.. pay no tax and use the toilet anyway.. this is what Lagos has become.. |
