The doctrine of entire sanctification is quite blurry in xtiandom.several churches hardly mention it.those who do hardly ever agree on it-some say it's consecration, some say it's sinless perfection, some say it happens simultaneously with the born again experience, others call it the 2nd work of grace.pentecostalism, now apparently the most popular brand of xtianity broke into 2 factions sometime in 1906 during d Azusa street revival.there was "the finished work" group headed by W.H. Durham n "the 2nd work" group supposedly headed by W.J. Seymour.the Seymour group considered the holy ghost baptism as a 3rd work which must be preceded by sanctification while Durham believed in salvation followed immediately by holy ghost baptism.many pentecostal churches today stick with Durham while a few like apostolic faith, deeper life etc. stick with Seymour.Apart 4rm this, notable xtian leaders like Wesley,Finney,Spurgeon,J.C. Ryle,Mackintosh etc. had varying views, with some deliberately intending to oppose the other's view.As a young xtian boy exposed to lots of xtian books i often wondered which was right, trying in futility to reconcile one with the other...i never got to pray for holy ghost baptism cos i was so stuck with sanctification...didn't knw who to listen to: bonnke or kumuyi...Wud like to knw what bible peeps on here think of this sanctification thingy.many thanks.

Well, some things can be received from God by faith and prayer. You dont need to be explain everything. As christians, we know that we can pray directly to God, fasting works too, and we can desire the gifts of the spirit.
Me dont know all those stuffs, but i am aware of the scripture that says a man must be baptised with water and fire to enter the kingdom of God. These are scriptural standards, and if you read your bible you will see where holy spirit baptism occured before water baptism. But the normal order is water baptism.

Dont let all those books you read confuse you about basic things in christianity. Too many books drive thee mad. . .

What does santification mean in the first place? It means to be Holy or to be seperated unto the Lord.
Santification is automatic immediately one gets saved. If you have the time to read Ephesians and Hebrew, you would understand better. Even Peters says, " you are a royal priesthood, a holy nation a perculiar people. "
All these talk about santification.

Let's assume that santification is a criterion for getting into Heaven and it doesn't come as soon as one gets saved. It therefore means that if someone has five minutes to die and he gets saved(ie born again), he must wait to get sanctified.
Its not so.

^^^That is how i see it too o. I mean, the body is the temple of the holy spirit. Keeping your body holy is all part of santification?

Some xtians don't see it that way.they say since jesus waited until john 17:17 to pray for his disciples' sanctification, then it must be a 2nd work that happens after salvation.but hw were they saved b4 jesus died n with what blood were they sanctified if it's assumed that they were b4 jesus eventually died?

The death of Jesus finalized everything. The prayer he made is for all believers.
