I wrote a while back, I believe before the President had declared state of emergency in the North, pointing out that Nigeria has three factions of rulers.

1. An elected Government
2 A cadre of free-for-all power barons
3 A self-imposed religious dictatorship.

Very similar in structure to what they had in Somalia, except all their factions were militants fighting to occupy and rule from the center.

It has been months since the President or the government has made any new move, tactically, to eliminate bokoharam or exile it from the sovereingty and domain of Nigeria.

The news media used to be our eyes and hears, bringing to our knowledge the atrocities of bokoharam in Maiduguri especially....until they firebombed Thisday' facility, as a statement of their demand for respect, then the media feed went dry.

Bokoharam operates in the North in a manner to suggest it intends to sever that part from the rest of the country. It appears that the President is in no resolve to contest the challenge on his sovereingty. JTF, the most formidable military operations team yet dispatched to counter bokoharam has failed to eliminate their camps and are content with a strategy of containment. This laxity in the government approach leaves holes and pockets through which boko is able to go cross-border from Maiduguri to Sokoto stopping in each state in that path to bomb and kill people, and then make it back to camp in Maiduguri safely.

Is North still in or are they out and under the rulership of boko. Who rules North nowadays? It is important to get answer to this question. It has ramifications for 2015.

Let us troubleshoot the issue for now.

Could bokoharam sponsor candidates loyal to its camp into Governors offices in the North and what would it mean for the country?
Could they field a candidate for Presidency and if they win how could that change the country?

IMO
The Northern North is presentlyy ruled by fear.
1) Fear that power is slipping off its fingers
2) Fear that that the infidel south is wiping out its culture and religious values
3) Fear that its big shots now have limited access to the national cake, and can no longer distribute it in the form of alms etc

Anybody that is capable of tactically plugging into this, is ruling his or her section of the Northern north
-Bokaharam is doing its bit in plugging into this fear, especially as per #2
-The politicians plug into #1 and #3. They also view Bokoharam as an opportunity/tool such as the Niger Delta Militants were, in the hands of the Niger Deltan political class

Could bokoharam sponsor candidates loyal to its camp into Governors offices in the North and what would it mean for the country?

They could support someone/a politician who appears loyal to them. I however think it would be tough for them to actually sponsor someone from amongst themselves.

The reason is simply because that means they would first have to pick someone, >> force the person into a party, >> then force people to accept the person -quite a tough task as they (BH) would have to drive and cordinate the process

However, if a politician they like approaches them, it becomes more feasible. The politician if extremely calculating will drive the process using Boko Haram as a tool of blackmail, coercion, religious appeal and rigging

Could they field a candidate for Presidency and if they win how could that change the country?
Like explained above, they (BokoHaram) cannot field someone for Presidency. However a Presidential aspirant can curry their support as political tools. The motivation to BokoHaram could be either financial rewards or religious vanity (the man/president shares our beliefs)

In an effort to appease his BH supporters, the change to the country if the bokoharam anointed president rules could be
A) Increased islamic religious trips Sponsored by the FG
B) Apointment of as many Muslims as possible into sensitive positions
C) The military/Force personels turning a blind eye to cases of religious abuses/persecutions in the Northern North and Central North
D) The Central North could become the battle ground for the islamists (with the FG looking away). The Islamists will insist that they also accept Sharia

The FG will expose the islamists to the control of wealth and power (for example by putting them in charge of the Islamic pilgrim board).
As time goes on, the islamists will become lazy with the acquisition of wealth. Its center wont be able to hold anymore
It would then have splinter groups
One fighting against the other

In all of this, there are implications for our neighbouring countries

GEJ can never have the mandate to be president in the North. Take a look at the 2011 electoral map on BBC. Fact is, he wouldn't want to rig the elections in 2015 so the more plausible option is to allow Boko Haram effectively seize control of the North in a declaration similar to what happened in Mali.

JTF is only there to aggravate the matter and ensure that when such a declaration is made, there will be subtle support from the residents who are tired of GEJ. See the airport about to be built in Bayelsa and observe the pattern of contracts awarded in the SS & SE. What you will find is that the infrastructure needed for a Sovereign country in 2015 is taking shape. Notice how the contracts in the SW & NE are often awarded to local champions who cannot do the job. The contracts down in the resource rich zones are awarded to the best and world class contractors. Open your eyes my people, Nigeria is already divided.

If we assume that thier are no factions with different ideology in BH and they were allow to sponsor and force a candidate on nigeria just like HAMAS of palestinan did will their be peace in the northan nigeria.

Boko haram cannot enforce anything poltically on the northern polticians rather they are a tool of destruction to destabilise or checkmate GEJ's administration.
The north knew theyve lost the plot in nigeria so they need to assert fear to gain control.

I fink Boko Haram is a Weapon against d Northern Oligarchs demselves(most of dem r Old CIA by d way)..the Northern Old Guards know that force cannot hold dis country 2geda now..dey'll thread softly...make concessions..as long as dia oil wells in d south are safe...BH has a vibrant element dat denotes youth..an extravagant taste(UN Building,Gen. Shehu etc) that suggests Foreign Appeal,A seemingly unclear vision that masks Astute Objectives...Perseverance dat indicates Fresh Reinforcements,Doggedness dat only a well dug-in regiment can display......All over Abuja, its Mossad,CIA,M15,Chinese Secret Service ppl pretending 2 b businessmen..etc, d Army is useless in dis fight..just as d British Army was against d IRA..u need a formidable Secret Service...Boko Haram is based Abroad..Take d Battle to dem dia..once d tap is shut...d hungry boys in Maiduguri wud gladly trade in dia guns..I know its not related 2 d topic, but dis is d only time I can bare my mind on BH issues on Nairaland..mk una no vex!
