Soldiers of the Joint Military Task Force have killed three Boko Haram Islamists and recovered arms and ammunition in a crackdown on the group in the restive northeastern city of Maiduguri, the military said Wednesday.
Military spokesman, Sagir Musa said government troops lost one soldier with one injured and arrested 31 suspects during the offensive against the extremist group in the Bulabulin Ngarnam area of the city on Tuesday.
“In an exchange of fire, one soldier was killed, one injured and one immigration personnel missing in action,” he said.
“Three Boko Haram terrorists were killed, 31 suspected Boko Haram terrorists were arrested, one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle and some quantity of assorted magazines and ammunition were recovered,” he added.
Nigerian troops have carried out a series of raids on suspected Boko Haram hideouts in Maiduguri, the epicentre of the insurgency by the extremist group.
Boko Haram has repeatedly targeted the security services as part of its campaign across northern and central Nigeria.
Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency is believed to have left some 3,000 people dead in the country since 2009, including killings by the security forces.

Sincerely the men of the JTF should be commended for the successes they have been recording,if not them the north east would have been captured by now,inspite of their imperfections they are really making the evil Boko haram uncomforatable to the extend that they are pushing for dialogue with the FG,I I just believe that it is a matter of time that Boko Hara will be history...

Why not 31 dead and three arrested? This is unlike gallant Nigerian soldiers. Have they forgotten about Jaji?

I believe the JTF actually had confrontation with boko haram because they too have casualty, however I have reservation about the 31 arrested people.
From the recovered weapons, it means only two people were armed and confronted them or the rest escaped. I'm sure many of the people living around that area are their sympathizers and some of them were arrested but I'm skeptical about the whole suspect's culpability. Does it mean the third dead boko haram was fighting with stone? Why weren't any weapon found on him with only two weapons recovered.
All in all I give kudos to JTF, I don't support religious extremism but I just like things to be rational and make sense to ♍ƺ.
