Minimum Wage: Plateau Assembly Threatens To Impeach Jang Fri, 30/11/2012 - 4:17am | ACHOR ABIMAJE and DONGVEL MAMAIKO News Politics The Industrial dispute between the Plateau state government and the state chapter of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) over the refusal of the state government to fully implement the N18, 000.00 minimum wage is about to reach a boiling point. There were indications, yesterday, that the State Governor Jonah Jang might soon be served with an impeachment notice if he failed to resolve the dispute as soon as possible. Rising from a plenary session presided over by the speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, John Clerk Dabwan, members condemned in strong terms the high handedness being demonstrated by the Governor in handling the dispute in the state. Members of the House, in separate remarks, described as undemocratic the way and manner Governor Jang was handling the matter, and stressed that, the “No Work No Pay” declared by governor has never been implemented in any part of the world and wondered why the governor still insisted on it. According to the law makers, they had, at several fora pleaded with the governor to temper justice with mercy considering the fact that since workers were first offenders, they should be forgiven and their entitlements paid considering the trauma their families were going through as a result of non-payment of salaries for the past seven months; but the governor seem not to be willing to shift ground. In addition, the lawmakers were worried that even with the intervention of some elders including the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) the matter was not yet resolved. http://leadership.ng/nga/articles/41385/2012/11/30/minimum_wage_plateau_assembly_threatens_impeach_jang.html |

I don't like reading 'threaten to' rather 'impeach'. They have not been heard for quite a while, I guess they want to remain relevant in the polity. The man has over-stayed his welcome with nothing to show for |

Jang stil holds d mentality of a military man.he doesnt know wat it feels like to be a civil servant n not been paid salary close 2 7months,unlike them, the military always pay salaries in time.the most unfortunate part of d story is dat he claims to be a man of God meanwhile peple die everi day cos of no food all in d name of his saving the money for security that doesnt count.people die everiday in plateau state n Jang is worsenin the situation. |

Mathew joseph: Impeach hm dat man 2 dull.if na joshua dariye nw ehen dat man na comfirm person.joshua dariye dey pay wokers salary as @ wen dueYou want Josh Dariye the looter, eh? Please save my people from looters! Jang is way far better than those political looters in Plateau. His developmental projects speak for him. However, Jang should look at the issue of minimum wage very seriously. |

jamace: You want Josh Dariye the looter, eh? Please save my people from looters! Are those the issues? hmmm Plateau issues [SIC], Jang angrily said: “Am I God to end Jos crisis…He wondered why people were particular about insecurity in Plateau. ‘Is Plateau the only place that has security problem? Security situation is all over the country, so why are you so particular about Plateau State?”- DAILY TRUST, Wednesday, September 14, 2011. 1 Like |
